Excellent location, wonderful staff
This is an incredibly convenient place to stay with great staff. "Centraal" location is ideal especially for first-time visitors since it's easy to get to from anywhere. CHECK-IN: Hilton properties in the EU are doing a great job taking care of guests, as evidenced on the work the front staff did trying to upgrade us to a suite. While they initially thought they had one for us, another employee booked it for another guest. Still, they upgraded us to a corner room with great views and sent up a rollaway bed at no extra charge. LOCATION: This is quite possibly the easiest hotel to find, as it is immediately to the right of Amsterdam Centraal Station. Any and all public transit ultimately terminate here, so no matter where you are or what public transit you're using, all of them lead back to a few hundred yards away from your hotel. You are also less than a 5 minute walk to NEMO as well as De Wallen. There's also a small grocery store next door. Do be mindful of bikes and bike lanes! GUEST EXPERIENCE: One odd thing about the hotel layout is the main lobby is at the far end of the building. There is a closer but somewhat hidden elevator by the Eastwood Coffee shop (serving actual coffee!) but even the coffee house doors are only open between 7am and 8pm (I believe). The rooms have mostly been all updated, and while they are what I would call 'typical' size for EU rooms, they are bright and clean. Daily housekeeping was excellent. FOOD: I only had sit-down breakfast once, and it was very good as was the service. Eastwood Coffee was a convenient go-to on our way in and out, and the staff there was also very friendly. Overall we had a near-perfect experience. At our time of stay the rooftop bar was closed, but that was our only disappointment. I definitely plan to stay here on future visits.

Nice Hotel But We Weren’t Comfortable
We just completed a three night stay at Doubletree after a cruise. We chose the hotel because we’re Hilton Honors Diamond Elites and the hotel is one of the most convenient in the city, just steps away from Centraal Station and the cruise port. This was our second stay but the first time more than one night. We were pleased to have our status acknowledged by early check in, lounge access and complementary breakfast during our stay. The room was clean, appointed with most of the comforts you’d expect in a mid-range big city hotel. The breakfast is extensive. We had a choice between a quiet breakfast with less choices in the lounge or a busy (chaotic) one with lots of choices in the restaurant. We chose the later because we enjoy a big breakfast. It was good and the chaos was not entirely the fault of the hotel. There were cruises coming and going all weekend and they were 100% full. Now you might ask why I only gave 3 stars to this review? The pillows!!! We are 60ish with neck and back issues, needing neck support for a good night sleep. Their standard pillows look fluffy but when you rest your head on them, they compact to a hard pile of mush. We kept waking up with neck aches our entire stay, not getting any restful sleep. To be fair, they tried bringing us different pillows. The new ones were like resting your head on a wood log. Not good. We just got home and slept over 10 hours in our own beds. I don’t think we got 10 good hours of sleep the whole 3 days at the Doubletree. Seriously folks, where do you source these pillow? The nearby Ibis? A hotel with a great location, service and a pretty hefty price tag needs to do better. I can promise your nearest competitor does (Marriott). So in spite of all the pluses, this one issue will probably keep us from staying at this hotel again. Sad.

Dry basic accommodation
Very basic room for the price paid. Reception staff not accommodating. This was booked through scenic cruises as we leave tomorrow. I would have liked to have stayed at the Marriott in Amsterdam where we had our last 2 nights. The difference is worlds apart.

First visit advice
Clean, attractive room. Fun canal view from our floor five room. The executive lounge offered two hours of tasty food as well as wine or beer each evening. Jerome at the bell desk offered useful suggestions for our first visit to Amsterdam. We thank him

The room was so small with AUD 550$
Way below expectations on a recent 2 night stay. Have stayed at many 5 star hotels both here and abroad. Staff mostly were as if they are straight out of a hospitality course. On surface the staff are well dressed etc but scratch the surface and the incompetence becomes evident. Clunky communication, My guess is management allowed competent staff to leave and they are desperately filling with new staff. Seen this in my own industry. Would not return. Door staff were pretty good. The gym is so lovely, bedroom IS SUPER SMALL
