5 glorious weeks at the beautiful Divi Phoenix! Loved every moment!
Clean, beautiful and the people were very friendly! A great relaxing 5 weeks! Sandra Mora from the towel hut was the friendliest and most helpful! Michelle the concierge was helpful, friendly and always had a smile for us! Garvin Rass the bell hop went above and beyond and always treated us like old friends.
Beach Steps Away
Just returned from our vacation in Aruba and stayed at the Divi Phoenix for 18 days. We have owned timeshare here since 1990 and have seen the resort go through many changes. Firstly, people do get up extremely early to reserve beach palapas and pool chairs, however, there are many shady areas on the beach where you can sit. I do admit that people are selfish in that they do not show up at their spot until the afternoon and some people even reserve spots at both the beach and pool….. this issue should be addressed. The resort is undergoing construction near the smaller pool and we were advised prior to arriving. This did not bother us as we like to sit by the beach but there is a larger pool for those who do not prefer the beach. Some of the rooms have more wear and tear than others but a call to maintenance usually addresses all issues……Gabriel(maintenance) has come promptly when needed. The beach/pool and towel staff are all hard working and welcoming. Julio R. Is very attentive to making sure we have all we need at the palapa……Julio 2 and Luis also helped us out this vacation. Sandra at the towel hut always welcomes us with a big smile each day and when she is not working….Marisol does the same. Vanessa (Pure Beach) is quick to bring you your food and drinks and always asks how you are. Michelle ( concierge) is very knowledgeable and helps to make reservations. Angelica (front desk) accommodated our room requests as my husband is recovering from knee surgery. We did stay in the recently renovated building and the re-fresh is nice. The resort will eventually all get a renovation, therefore, there are going to be some inconveniences for some. It looks like the Wave Shack will be finished soon and my family is looking forward to it as this area was once a bar area. I’m hoping that there will be more palapas constructed in the future . We have eaten at both of the restaurants and find the food great.
Be ware before you book
My husband and I spent a week in unit 905 of Divi Phoenix Beach Resort in Aruba. We had no idea before arriving that we would need to get up each day before 5am in order to get any beach or pool seating in the shade for the entire day. Chairs are claimed that early and kept until around 5 pm (whether being used or not) so you’re totally out of luck if you don’t get up that early. The full day construction noises for the new wave bar being built in between our unit and the beach made it challenging to sit on our balcony most days when we couldn’t secure shaded seating on any part of the beach or pool areas. In addition our unit was freezing cold all day and night no matter how you adjusted the thermostat. The jacuzzi tub/shower in the bathroom was very old and the corroded drain did not drain completely and water backed up into the tub during all showers. In addition the shower curtain was not able to be closed completely due it sagging to the middle on the misshapen rod. There is no oven or dishwasher in the supposedly full kitchen and no washer/dryer as advertised in this unit. The bed was old and squeaked but comfortable enough. The two elevators in this main tower were slow but functional except on the 2 days that one of them was broken. The gift shop and sundry shops were nice. The food the 3 restaurants was ok but nothing special. One salad I ordered from puredeli ended up having spoiled spinach leaves which kept me in the bathroom all night. The white sand beach, palm trees and gorgeous ocean water were all that were advertised and more. But make sure you really understand all that you’re getting into before you book this particular resort. We didn’t do our research well enough.
Great stay, exceptional staff!
Enjoyed our time here, good interactions with all staff. Sandra Mora made our stay extra special each day when we visited the towel stand daily. We always had a fun conversation and she made she we got excellent spots on the beach! Will definitely come back!
