Stay Somewhere Else, Mediocre in Every Capacity

Do not stay here. My wife and I came for our honeymoon expecting so much more. This is a 2 star resort, nowhere near the 4.5 claimed on google. There have been a lot of issues that have added up to us never returning or recommending this resort to our friends. The food and drinks are just ok, while I understand cost measures, but we had MUCH better food/drinks outside the resort. The reservation system is a nightmare, you can ONLY make reservations from 9am-10am. If you check in after that time period, you are stuck with the buffet for that night. Miss the reservation time? Stuck with the buffet. The buffet food rotates daily with different themes, there are some decent items but overall just ok. The other restaurants that are reservation only are also just ok, with Los Gallos being the best one by far. Onto the issues we experienced, our room keys didn’t work the entire week long stay(Monday-Sunday). We would stand at the door trying both keys for 5-10 minutes before it would finally work, we got 3 new sets of key cards and the issue persisted. They said they would send someone to change the batteries in the door lock, but the issue still persisted after. This a bare minimum for any hotel/resort, Door keys that work, and Crown failed to meet this for an entire week. AC barely works in the entire original building. Apparently the building with the rooftop infinity pool was built in 2019 and when we talked to other guests, it’s a great experience. But in the original adults only building, where the buffet, restaurants, and spa is located is the complete opposite. The AC hasn’t worked the entire time we’ve been here, just blowing air. Our room has only been 5 degrees colder than outside the entire time. When we complained they said they’d send someone to look, but no change. Apparently they’ve been dealing with a leak, which I understand can be difficult to track down and fix, but it lasting an entire week is ridiculous. This hotel hosts weddings. Which is no problem, it’s got a great waterfront view. BUT both weddings Friday/Saturday night were right outside our room(less than 30 feet) and our room/windows was shaking because the music was so loud. My wife and I couldn’t go to sleep until after it ended. I’m all for people celebrating and having fun, but right outside the hotel rooms is ridiculous and should never happen. This was the cherry on top with all the issues we had on our honeymoon that led us to write 2 reviews(1 for each of us) on this resort. It’s unacceptable when you have guests that want to sleep.(photo included) While the staff is extremely friendly and they try to help, there are so many issues that it has completely ruined the experience. Especially for the cost. Puerto magico is 5 minutes away which is great for any excursions you book, but that really is the only redeeming quality. Puerto Vallarta? Great, wonderful city and location with a ton of fun things to do. Crown Paradise Resort? Avoid at all costs and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

    Go somewhere else

Pick somewhere else. Stayed Monday-Sunday. Most of the hotel is outdated and does not have adequate AC. If you want your room to be below 80 degrees don’t stay here. We had to sleep on top of the sheets every night to stay cool enough to sleep. We asked that the AC be checked to see if it was broken, but they assured us it was working, meaning that it is supposed to be this bad. Room key cards never worked. In the 6 days we stayed here we had to get the key card replaced 3 times. Then, the battery in the door locked needed to be replaced. Having a working door, lock, and key is the bare minimum. Every time we put the key in the door it would flash red, we would have to swipe the card anywhere between 7-19 times to get into our room. This happened every time we needed to get in. The hotel allowed weddings to occur on the beach right outside the rooms. We stayed on the second floor and two nights in a row wedding receptions were held outside out window. These receptions played music all night, and it was so loud it shook the room. If this type of event is occurring it should NOT be occurring within 10 feet of hundreds of guests (sleeping kids included). It is completely inappropriate to sell the rooms at this rate when you can’t even sleep because of the massive party outside your window. The staff are friendly and try to help, but there seems to be so many problems with the building itself that no amount of customer service can compensate. There was a major leak in the hotel on our first day, the lobby toilets did not flush, the AC in the restaurants that are part of their all inclusive package was broken. The rooftop pool was beautiful, the quality of the water however was so poor it gave me an allergic reaction, made my eyes swell up and have a runny nose and sinus issue. This only occurred if the water in this pool touched my face, this did not happen in any other pool. This is because the pool water is not adequately chlorinated and contains human waste. Location is within walking distance of the port for Vallarta Adventures (Puerto Magico) which is convient.

Not going back and do not recommend

If you prefer staying at a resort that allows anyone to buy a “day pass” then this is your place, however, if you prefer something different, stay far away. The food was good, but the overall experience was not. We were stuck in a room that stayed between 81-83 degrees and after requesting a new room, we were finally moved (took two days). So, if you enjoy waking up in sweat, book this ASAP, but if you’d like comfort when you are in your room, stay away! My friends and I will return to Puerta Vallarta, but will not stay at this resort again. Nothing about this was “golden”

Do not stay here if you like AC

I just got back from my vacation and I confidently say I will not be staying here again. I’ve visited Puerto Vallarta numerous times and never experienced the issues at other hotels with the AC as I did in this hotel. Our room was burning hot. We were moved rooms four different times during our two night stay. It was stressful and inconvenient to say the least. The AC in all four rooms did not work. At the end, we were tired of moving and just decided to stay in a hot room. Other guests complained about having the same issue with the AC in their room as well. There’s a newer tower with new modern rooms, however those lack a view. The beachfront rooms are dated and need to be renovated. The food was okay. Be aware there’s only bottled waters in the mini fridge in your room, so be aware of that, if you ask for water at a restaurant or bar, it’ll be tap water. The activities were entertaining and I appreciated the entertainment team. The hotel is only 10 minutes from the airport which is very convenient. The marina is about a 5 minute walk, so if you have any tours leaving from the marina, the hotel’s location is perfect. The hotel isn’t horrible, but I can’t stay in a hot room, when it is already over 99 degrees outside. Due to that, I will no longer be returning.

    Crown Paradise Golden Round 2

Great stay again. Room could use some updating but the staff are amazing. Jose is the best bartender by far and Danny on the front entry was always so friendly and ready to help all the time. He's this resorts greatest asset.
