Pretty dang great
The hotel was very clean and has a beautiful pool, convenient bar and dining locations, and is well located between the two cruise ports (you could walk to either one, or stay away!) staff was friendly and attentive. Miguel and Pedro at the tour desk helped my large group of 20 with a few tours and taxi ride arrangements, no problems! Keira, server by the pool, was the best! Food was good, some people complained if there were similar thing each day or using up leftovers in creative ways, but I didn’t mind. If I had one critique it is that they should have a printed calendar of events for the poolside events each night, or stuff to do in town. Each night we didn’t know what to expect (bingo, singing? And would have participated more had we been able to anticipate and plan.

Good value.
Good value for the money, for an A.I. Have stayed here many times. They must be doing something right. Great location to walk to town or grocery stores if you need to walk off all the food lol. Cheap cab ride to town or ferry. Has a beach and nice pool, both with a bar. Water access to snorkel or dive. Dive shop right there as well. I like A.I.'s because we go and do so much it is convenient to get back to the hotel and walk right into a buffet to eat. This is out the window when they serve a la carte. Which can take an excessively long time to be served and the food hit or miss. Especially because you can't see what you're ordering and the descriptions are so off. We guessed there were less buffets because the hotel didn't have enough guests during most of our stay to justify it. Snack bar by the pool is good when open if needed. The staff is friendly and amazing. Keira Valdez is the sexiest waitress on the island. ( Her words, but she isn't wrong) lol. Maybe need to upgrade the mattress'. Some in our group found them very hard. All in all good value. We will be back.

Hotel from Hell
I arrived at the hotel on May 14. The first room I was given smelled. They gave me another. This room was terrible. The shower did not drain properly. The shower head needed replacing. When I was ready to shower, there was no hot water. The phone in the room did not work. So I had to go down to the desk to try and get another room. I was told there were no more rooms available. They sent a maintenance person to check the water. Come to find out the hot water was turned off. Got ready to shower again and there was no wash cloths. Went back downstairs and was told that the hotel did not provide wash cloths. Unbelievable! Finally got a shower and got in bed. The bed was hard as the floor. This did it for me! Called the airlines and changed my flight. I was supposed to be there three nights, but I was so disgusted I left the next day and flew back home. This hotel ruined my vacation! This hotel was terrible! I never felt comfortable there, and I would definitely not recommend anyone to book a trip to this hotel. In fact, I think Southwest vacations should remove them from their list of hotels! I am currently working with them to be compensated for the cost of the hotel. My advice is to stay clear of this place!!!

Adios Hotel Cozumel Hello Hotel Occidental
I have been coming to this hotel for the last 12 plus years. When Wyndham took over I expected that the rooms and furnishings would be upgraded. The price has consistently gone up so i was hoping for upgrades to the property. This is a dive hotel not a luxury venue. This trip I found the Ultimate Luxury Hotel and decided to move on to the Occidental Royal level for when I come back in October. It is a few dollars more for the Royal but what a place. Here are the good facts on Hotel Cozumel: The employees are excellent Luisa, Kiera and Miguel stand out with the level of service that they provided. The food has been upgraded with some special night to order off of the menu and not always a buffet. It is clean and the air conditioners work well. The room cleaning people are honest and trustworthy. The bad news is: We used to have wash cloths no more I guess providing a .50 cent towel is too much. You can't drink the water at the hotel. At check in you are given two 16 oz bottles of water in your room. Want more? you have to walk down the hall and fill your bottles daily. Many times the hall water was completely empty. Hard to understand why they can't give .50 cents worth of water every day. When I went to look at the Hotel Occidental the in room mini bar is restocked every other day in the least expensive room and restocked daily in the Royal rooms. 4 waters ,8 beers and 8 soft drinks NOT BAD. The starting level at the Occidental is currently less that the Hotel Cozumel on Hotels .com The furniture is tired. The drawers will fall out of the dresser, the marble top has been cracked forever. One day we had no cold water the next day the hot was cold and the cold was hot. on the 3rd day it was back to normal. I complained about the sliding glass door in my room in October and I always stay in the same room. The door still wasn't fixed and required 41 lbs of pull to get it open. My wife could not open or close the door I complained about it this trip too. No luck.

Good value diving hotel
We came as a diving package through Aldora divers. The package deal is a very good value. We didn’t spend much time in the hotel itself, but as a dive hotel, it’s fantastic. One star removed for the average food and the quality of the room, although I would bring it up to 5 stars if there was a small fridge in the room. Customer service is great, everyone is very friendly and accommodating. Favorite waitress is Keira Valdez—so funny, super hard working, and fast. Dare I say, she may be the best waitress in all of Cozumel!
