Great pool and beach at this location
We stayed here for the last 2 nights of our 17 night trip to Hawaii-the hotel is very conveniently located, close to many restaurants and shops. The best part of the property was the pool and the nice gentle beach. We decided to spend our last day at Kona at the beach, enjoying the scenery and snorkeling. The breakfast buffet was great, we did not eat at the bar, so no reviews there. Our room was great, even though we had a view of the tennis court and parking lot.

Well-located modern hotel in the middle of Kailua-Kona
This is a hotel in a very convenient location, right in town with all the restaurants and right at the Kailua-Kona pier, which is the start of the Ironman Triathlon and offers incredible swimming. Rooms are modern and comfortable. Be aware that those overlooking the pool and beach can be loud. Breakfast is nice; great view and the buffet is decent. If you are looking for quiet, this isn’t it, but location can’t be beat. Service is also very good, especially from Annie in the restaurant, and the front desk staff were excellent at addressing issues that came up during our stay.

Tiny, run down room for big dollars!
Run down hotel. My husband is disabled and needs a roll in shower. Upon checking into our closet, yes that about the size of the rooms, we realized our view for 450.00 a night was the roof top to a building. I asked the front desk if they had any ocean views or partial ocean view. I was told NO DISABLED ROOM HAVE ANY VIEW OF THE OCEAN. Not worthy of it I suppose? Rude. After putting some clothes away in our tiny room, which consisted of 4 drawers, we realized the bathroom had no wheel in shower. Went back to the front desk and I told them he needs the roll on shower, as WE BOOKED, so he finally found us one. Picked up all our things again, and moved to the new tiny room. This view is of the tennis courts. As a North America, travel agent who has traveled extensively, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. It’s ridiculously overpriced. Sticking to my IHG hotels! MUCH BETTER!

Avoid
Avoid If you Marriott Elite Platinum and above than avoid this hotel and go to Waikoloa Ocean Resort . No upgrade and No Breakfast . View of the Parking lot . GM not on site but his voice mail says he will return in March . This is May 2023 . Left a message with front desk and requested to talk to on site duty manager but did not receive the call . High parking fee of $25 Additional Amenities fee of $22 just to use practically Pool and Beach . Rooms are dated and property is Yamanouchi a joke I’m trying to see very old . Bath needs to be upgraded . Elite che k in counter not exist but just sign there but you have to stand in line with rest of the crowd . You don’t get acknowledged as Elite member . We had very wonderful stay and experience at Waikoloa Marriott . Just moved here to be close to the Airport but actually it s only 15 minute time difference . Hotel have contract with Airline so stranded passengers and Pilots presence is seen . For any question they wants to you to refer to Courtyard policy .

A Wonderful Hotel with a Long History of True Hawaiian Hospitality!
I have stayed at the King Kam, many times and for over 45 years! The location is extremely convenient and close to everything in Kailua Kona. The accommodations are comfortable, clean and a great value! The staff is always friendly, hardworking and helpful! Most of the rooms have great views and are offered at good rates. I have worked within the Hotel and Travel Industry for more than 43 years, I have stayed at the hotel MANY times and booked hundreds of room nights for clients. I have always received wonderful comments, reviews and very satisfied clients! I have stayed at the King Kam myself numerous times within the last few years, for business. I am also a Bonvoy member and stay at hundreds of Marriott properties every year. I must commend a very special and extraordinary employee... "Missy" on the Front Desk is absolutely Amazing! I have observed her many times greeting, working and dealing with guests. Missy is always Kind, Caring and Helpful. I have rarely experienced/witnessed the hospitality, professionalism and welcome she shows to every guest! Missy is a true example of Hawaiian Hospitality and the ALOHA SPIRIT!
