Best Service Due to Amazing Staff!

This resort staff is second to none. The grounds are immaculately kept, well maintained and spotlessly clean. We had excellent service at every turn. The fitness center, pickleball courts and juice bar were definitely our very favorite and the locals who belong to the fitness club were super nice. The food was very good, not awesome because we love to cook and are pretty specific with our nutrition, but it takes a lot to blow us away. We went on a lovely catamaran sunset cruise and a quick snorkel trip. Having gone SCUBA diving in Roatan, Honduras, it is difficult to compare, but there was still plenty to see. What we were not anticipating was the fraternity-party 10am drunks. That was a bummer, especially one woman who started talking politics and was beyond rude when she learned we are not conservatives. There were also oodles of beach vendors, but in a country where poverty is staggering even by Caribbean standards, I guess it is normal? Our room was cleaned every day, we had more clean towels than we needed and turndown service each night. The wait staff in the restaurants were so, so nice.

    Think twice before booking

I’ve been to this resort several times but this time was very dissatisfying. First issue was there was a large birthday group that were allowed to take over the resort. I order food from the cabana grill. My order came up and one of the members of the birthday group took it. I said excuse me that was my order, his reply was you snooze you looses MFR. The staff said they were taught to not deal with people like this and ignore them. So I guess a repeat guest is not a priority. This same person kept breaking champagne bottles, very rude and disrespectful to the point most of the guest were afraid. 2nd issue-Sat-Tue- there was No buffet offered. We had to order from a menu at the palms. We literally waited 1/30 for our meal one night after 1 hr 40 the next we just left. Had to go and get our own drinks. 3rd issue-the bamboo bar was also closed sat-Tuesday which has always been are favorite spot. This time not so much. The staff seemed to miss it be opened also as the bartenders got extremely drunk and would not wait on customers. At one point all the stools at the bar were taken staff . 4th issue-no housekeeping for 3 days usually don’t complain but I felt a need to on this. This is the first time I’ve been to this resort and felt very unsafe with my surroundings. They said it’s low capacity right now and I can see why if they continue running this way they won’t have any capacity.

Couples swept away, eighth trip in nine years, not the same- under staffed!

Areas of opportunities- needs improvement! 1) no wake up call check out day 10/10/24- 2) shower in room Luke warm water- no hot water 3) renovated room - has automatic light in closet- super sensitive- lights up when walking by- when spouse uses restroom at night bright light turns on 4) Managers “repeaters” dinner Monday- our table of 4 had to get our own drinks at the bar- never asked if we wanted drinks -others for serve wine. Our glasses were empty, and we were never asked if we wanted wine. 5) same dinner Monday- cocktail hour: each tray by the time they got to us in the back the server said “we have two meatballs who wants it?” and we were a table of four and then a tray of fish came around and they said the same thing we only have two left who wants it. —You have to have enough to go around. 6) Same dinner Monday- general manager, Karen introduced the property, managers and herself, and then left. She seemed rushed and very impersonal. Never made her way around to the tables. 7) same dinner Monday- when seated server asked one person at our table for four if they had any allergies or any changes to the menu and then walked away and didn’t ask anybody else. When appetizers start to come out, I got her attention and asked if I could also illuminate some of the things from the menu, she said I already asked the table. I said you asked one person and she didn’t speak for the whole table. The server seemed very annoyed and rushed. We were shocked. 8) Restaurants: there are a lot of changes and closures leaving only one place open for breakfast, the palms restaurant. Most days it was very crowded, and they were long lines for omelettes. 9) one of the beach bars, closed our entire stay. 10) our second night of feathers, it took us 30 to 45 minutes to get her main entrée. Our waiter apologized three times to us and the table next to us. 11) we’re having dinner at patois‘s. I was finished with my entire meal and my husband’s main entrée still hadn’t come out just as he decided that we would leave. His main entrée came out. Timing was horrible service terrible. 12) same evening at Patois’s we didn’t get water and had to ask for that and Diet Coke 13) pool bar: no music and especially no Jamaican music- no reggae We just completed our eighth trip in 9 years and overall thought that couples swept away was extremely understaffed. Service was overall very different than what we were used to. Outstanding notes: 1) we went for his and hers massage twice, and I had a manicure. The oasis spa is exceptional with outstanding service. 2) what are sports staff is exceptional. We went on the glass, bottom, boat, ride, snorkeling, and the catamaran. exceptional as always like to call out kudos to Kennel. 3) housekeeping was exceptional as always. Our room was always spotless. 4) I’d like to recognize the following staff that is exceptional and part of the reason why have we have returned so many times: A) Shana Kaye-pool bar B) Leachin -pool bar C) Wayan -the palms omelette chef D) Jacqueline, Jackie tours E) everyone and housekeeping, water sports in the oasis spa.

BEWARE VISIT AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!

This hotel is dirty, dingy, dilapidated. This hotel is not clean in the 2 weeks we were here the same bit of silver paper stayed on the bathroom floor not only that there were crumbs down the side of the mattress, walls have marks on if this was a 5 star hotel it would be clean. The entertainment is non existent most hotels we have stayed in the shows do not start till 9pm here the shows end at 9pm then you get dirty looks from the bar staff when you want another drink. the beach furniture is dirty we never saw it being cleaned at all. There are cats in the restaurant begging and they have fleas as my husband had a flea bite on his arm. you have to wait for 20 minutes for an egg in the morning as there is only 1 person serving and lunch time and evening the menu is limited and so is the buffet. this is not a 5 star not even a 3 star we would not come back here no even if it was free.

Sad story - money stolen from the room

Overall: good beach, sea, food. Annoying sellers on the beach and staff that doesn't really care about you. We were unlucky to leave the room safe open one day, so they thought our money is their money. Just be sure not to leave room safes open. Hotel admin and police don't really do anything about it, which is sad as I've read some other reviews reporting stolen money. - beautiful beachfront location and tranquil atmosphere (if you can ignore the beach vendors that try to sell you weed 10 times a day) - powder-soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters (there are jelly fish that can byte you and no one tells you about... and some stingrays, but they are fine) - we stayed in Atrium suite which had no TVs and glass windows, making it an ideal spot for disconnecting and unwinding - the quality and variety of the food was great, with a lot of meat options. Fish and sea-food options were limited (we had only one type of fish (snapper) for the whole stay) and lobster on only one night - good range of water sports, including snorkeling, paddleboarding, windsurfing and diving (if you are licensed) —all included in the price - although a lot of reviews say the staff and customer service are good, was not the case for us. Staff was mostly lazy and not caring (bars, restaurants, watersports), with a couple of exceptions. - cherry on top: an important sum of money was stolen from our room. Probably left the safe open one day...
