Privileged Room, All adult Beautiful resort...A few hiccups but we enjoyed it. If it wasnt for Ana at reception she was ABSOLUTELY ANAZING, best custoner service we have ever experienced. She did her best to accommodate us. Our room had no AC and we ended up in the Accessibility room until there was availability elsewhere. We ended up staying there for the entire stay unfortunately., despite her best efforts daily. Andy at concierge services was pleasant and tried to ensure our stay was memorable. If all the staff were 1/2 as good ss ANA, 5stars across the board!! Food was fantastic, the staff at Bloved restaurant, Berni, Dario and Marlenny were very friendly, not so much in the other restaurants on the family side.Hope to come back and book one of the duplex rooms!!

The best room in the hotel
Our check in was something else, Minerva was really helpful explaining all hotel amenities and even offered to relocate us to a room far from the pool and close to the beach after we asked for a low noise room. That was very kind from her, she said it was her favorite room in the hotel and the best for our category, and she was right! We were very pleased with this quiet and awesome room, with the perfect location and view. All the staff is extremely friendly and always doing their best to make your stay unforgettable. Recommended

Here are some pros and cons of the resort… having visited recently for our honeymoon. Pros: -Adult side/Family side, both accessible -Good breakfast -Decent rooms closer to beach -Decent A La Carte restaurants, nothing special. A lot of the same options -Free drinks/snacks in room -Housekeeping staff were great Cons: -Constantly getting harassed by non-resort workers trying to sell excursions etc. -Staff speaks very little English, hard to communicate needs -A Spanish speaking guest informed me that the bar staff, and general staff complain that guests do not tip enough, Resulting in poor service -Expect tips after every meal or drink -Buffet food is repeated often, not very fresh and not very tasty -Vendors in Lobby area pushing you to buy their merchandise -Copious amounts of seaweed on the beach, have to walk down the beach to get access to clear, blue water -limited beach seating, the “privileged” package offers a private beach, it’s just a small section with beach chairs and loungers no different than normal beach area -Food truck not offering all menu items displayed, burgers are ok, nothing special -Excursions are fun, however you get pushed into buying more merchandise from vendors off resort, we found this very annoying. -We celebrated our honeymoon and got a view of construction, when asked for a different room we were denied. No upgrades, they don’t seem to care and don’t understand what you’re asking -TV not working in room -Fridge in room not cold -Resort offers a “shopping centre” with gift shops, coffee shop, pharmacy and clothing stores. Very expensive quoted in USD We paid a lot for this trip and being a 5 star resort we expected a lot more. We were disappointed and will probably not return. This is an honest review for anyone thinking of booking at Catalonia Royal Bavaro.

I’m here with 10 of my family members and we’ve stayed at 2 other properties. The bones of this one place are great; bar is nice and the rooms look great. Problem is it’s not run well. You can expect the same bland food for lunch and dinner in both dining rooms. Be ready for a long line at the single omelette station and an empty bin or two of fixings at breakfast . I went to the sports bar tonight with my brother in law, son and nephews. The token machine was empty so I had to walk to the front desk to get a few. The problem was the pool machine didn’t work. Had to go back to the desk for a refund because the bar manager didn’t deal with the games. . Rooms not cleaned with out a call, towels not available on time and the same food night after night point to poor management. Too bad because it overshadows an amazing staff. The people are lovely, family oriented and the reason we gave 3 stars instead of 1.
