staff not friendly/helpful. Room was dirty, floors had crumbs under the table, hair on counter and in sink. the light switches were filth, I wiped the desks and counters with clorox and they were filth. Ants on the floor, shower had black dirt on the wall. Asked the housekeeper to make the sofa bed while we went to dinner, did not happen. Seen her in the hallway, she turned the other way and said wait...never returned. Our dead bolt was broken, told the maintenance man who was just standing outside our door, and told me there's nothing he can do about it. Called the resort 4x on ly to be hung on, and sent emails over showing the pictures with no response. Would not ever send clients here let alone stay here!

Let me start by saying don't always believe the "1 contribution review." Especially the negative reviews, sometimes that person is from another hotel or possibly a disgruntled employee etc. Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres is a fabulous resort. The food, service, and grounds were excellent. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star is because the way the front desk handled our wrong room reservation. We reserved a privileged family swim out room with a King Bed and 2 bunk beds. They gave us a room with two queen beds (same room) and a sofa/ bed. I came with my wife and two daughters age 19 and 17. Anyway they said that we could change the room the next day (didn't bother to apologize). And they gave my 19 year old daughter a child wristband (17 and younger). So we had to take care of that. The next day we moved out of the room early and went to the beach. They said to check back at Noon to see if the room was ready and said that definitely at 3pm it would be ready. Well we approached the desk at 4 PM and guess what? They looked confused as if they had no IDEA what we were talking about. I was furious. We waited the majority of the day at the hot beach, no personal bathroom, sweating hot (temp was close to 100 degrees all day) and they forgot about the mistake that THEY MADE. Anyway they noticed I was angry and went to the back to discuss their move to alleviate their mess. Anyway about a half hour later we had our room (4003) with the King size bed and the two bunk beds. Even though one of the bunk beds did not work the other daughter slept on the pull out sofa bed. We made do. Not even an apology or any kind of comp. So that was the negative, the rest of the trip was excellent! 95% of their workers are friendly and the their service was top notch. The food I would rate them a 7/10. We tried all the restaurants except Ayami (couldn't get a reservation for 4- even though I tried on their website at 0900). Strange because it wasn't crowded at all (traveled Mid August- start of the off season). We really liked their restaurant Bloved and their Buffet restaurant believe it or not. The buffet actually had a nice variety of food. All in all besides the first 2 days the trip was perfect. Having been in management my advice to Catalonia mgt is to keep up with the little room issues (for eg. one of the bunk beds were broken, iron cord in the room did not work). This place has the potential of being one of the best in the Cancun area. Another tip: Pls tip the workers, they work very hard to try and please the guests. From turn down service, to the waiter, to the bartenders, etc. so don't forget to bring plenty of smaller bills.

We were a little disappointed with our stay at Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres. The restaurants seem to be having “challenges” that were out of control. At Toscana and the Burger spot, you had to order through scanning a Q-Code. Not one time did they get our order correct at either spot over our 6 day stay. We ate at the Mexican restaurant and asked for only meat & cheese on the tacos and was informed that they don’t have cheese. Beloved was great, the coffee shop was great, and the buffet had almost anything you could want. There seemed to be struggles with housekeeping as well. People had dishes stacked outside of their rooms for over 2 days that were never picked up, to the point that the strawberry on a plate was black & fuzzy. The staff was great as far as being courteous and helpful. There are no reserved areas for their club members around the pool area, only at the beach, so if you are wanting chairs or cabana around the pool, get up & out at 6am (or earlier) for your best chance to get them. The beach was absolutely stunning! Very little seaweed and you have a good selection of either sun or shaded spots. Drinks are very watered down, so you may need to get your own liquor and add to them.

Catalonia grand Costa mujeres
A nice hotel but my stay last couple months at Elcid was way better. The employees at Catalonia are wonderful, services were great. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary on that trip, when mention that to the team, they didn't do nothing special for my wife. But my son had to book a dinner for us at the Memorie. From the food to the service everyone was on points.
