    Needs updating

The staff is friendly and the restaurant food is great! They maintain the pool and gardening so the property looks nice. Like majority of the Riviera Maya, there is a seaweed current which builds up on the beach but they do their best to clean it up. Definitely a pool vacation resort. The buildings have water stains on the ceilings and the hallways need updating but my room was clean and housekeeping kept up daily. A chunk of ceiling fell in the hallway because of the water weight, this being a hazard. Also, the AC in my room was dripping water majority of my trip and maintenance just brought a mop to get the water. It wasn't until I complained with the concierge desk until it was fixed.

    Great service and great food!

My husband and I went with friends from February 24 to March 10. We flew Sunwing which I don’t like because you are packed in the plane like a sardine. Also you do not get a meal on board. You have a choice of a couple of things including nachos and chocolate bars and Mr. noodles. All you have to do is download the app to see what your choices are before you go and they are a laugh. Our plane was late leaving Ottawa and by the time we got through the airport in Cancun and were driven to the resort it was midnight. Check in was very easy and quick. We were taken to our room by golf cart. There was a bottle of red wine and a plate of fruit waiting for us when we got there at our room. The room and bathroom are very clean. We were on the first floor near the beach in room 1127. Our room looked out at the trees/bush. Our room was about two minutes from the pool and the beach but a 10 minute walk from the main Buffet and lobby which was fine because that’s the only exercise we got. The resort itself is big and the grounds are well-kept. It is dated and needs refurbishing. It was very clean everywhere you went. The à la cart restaurants were very nice looking. They have a bar called the black and white which I didn’t like the inside of but you can make up your own mind. The paint job reminded me of Beetlejuice - black and white stripes inside. There were some tables and chairs outside the bar but not enough. The pool area is quite big but the problem was that you had to get up at 5 o’clock in the morning to put your towels out because otherwise they all would be taken. I think this is because there was so much seaweed on the beach that you couldn’t sit out there and it was very windy as well. We didn’t go in the water because the seaweed was so awful, not the resorts fault at all. They are trying their best to remove it but there is quite a bit of it. The staff at BlueBay are simply amazing! I cannot say enough good things about them. Our waiters were so nice and helpful. The service was quick and it was excellent. We ate at the Buffet, we ate at the à la carts and at the restaurant near the pool. All of the food was very good. The only thing was you had to download the app to make your à la cart reservations. Because we were with Sunwing there was a problem and it wouldn’t work. Every day I went down before breakfast and made a reservation for the next day for an à la cart which was fine. We had Mexican, seafood, steak and Italian. There was no limit on how many times we could go which was nice. The drinks were good as well. We had a wide variety and the bartenders were willing to accommodate. There is a bar with swings at the far end of the resort. It was fun but the tequila sure flows! Beware! You might not make it to supper that day! I can’t tell you anything about the entertainment at night because I didn’t stay up. We did watch a band one night at the black-and-white bar. They were very good and played 70s and 80s music. The only complaint we had was that the Internet wasn’t very good and you had to go get a password at the front desk every couple of days to log back on. We spent our two weeks at the pool and the Internet didn’t work very well at all. There was one other problem and that was that people were stealing stuff. Once when we put our towels out we put clips on each chair and when we came out after breakfast two of the clips were missing along with two of the towels. A lady beside us said that she had her sandals stolen. The second last day that we were there our friend had his swimsuit stolen off his terrace. I don’t think it’s the workers at the hotel but may be somebody staying at the hotel. All in all the resort was nice and I definitely would go back because of the food and the service. The resort is clean and kept up, they just need to update it a bit. Beware of the little animals running around. I think they are called Coatis. One little guy stole an apple out of a ladies bag at the pool and ran off with it! Some people were trying to feed them and touch them which you’re not supposed to do, hello people these are wild animals. There is signage all around the resort saying that you shouldn’t touch or feed any of the wild life. Apparently people can’t read.
