Fair. Not great. Budget vacation.
Poor quality food. Decent grounds. Average rooms. Zero plant-based options. I’ve never seen a resort that has absolutely nothing. I mean rice, veggies & fruits -that’s it. The beans are cooked in chicken stock. There’s meat pieces sprinkled everywhere even salads. Gym smells funny. That strip of beach is rough, can’t swim most days.
Barcelo was fantastic. We were here for a week and we loved every second of it. The room was very comfortable and just what was needed because you don't spend a ton of time in your room anyways, could it use a little updating? Yeah, a little but again - we don't spend a ton of time in our room!!! They keep the grounds very nice and beautiful. Was the food fantastic all the time? no, but keep in mind - they are cooking for hundreds of people, you'll never make everyone happy and most of the food we had was great! No complaints from us at all. Freddy (lobby bar) and Kenji (pool and lobby) were AMAZING bartenders/servers (there were some others down at the pool also, but I'm forgetting their names at the moment) and they all took fantastic care of us and made delicious "Ranch Water" drinks for us. PLEASE TAKE MONEY TO TIP!!! If you tip and take care of the people waiting on you - I promise, you will have zero complaints!! Just because it's an all inclusive - doesn't mean you shouldn't tip.... We tipped servers at the buffets, bartenders, all of them. They all work their butts off, so show your appreciation. We didn't receive bad service once! Oh, and the spa service we received ("Good Start" I think is what it was called) was first class - our first massages for both of us and now we want to and probably will add this to every vacation! We will definitely come back to Barcelo next time we come down to Cabo. THANK YOU!
Do not stay at this hotel even if the price looks to good to pass up. I have no clue how this property get 5 star reviews. This is a solid 3 star hotel at which I spent 4 nights and will never return. Positives - decent pool areas, average bar set ups but very pleasant staff and the breakfast/lunch restaurant was perfectly located on the beachside also with very pleasant staff. The children's daycare was great also with fab staff. Negatives - the rooms are Motel 6 level. - I booked what Westjet Vacations calls a Superior Ocean View room (online it's called Superior Room Seaview) - it's neither! My view was 100% of the pool area. Front desk would not budge saying what I booked is a partial ocean view room. Not the case whatsoever but I just gave up. Please ensure you consider/confirm this if you do book this hotel. - The bedside table drawer was hanging on hinges, the closet doors wouldn't move and the best part was the toilet. - The toilet would not flush properly over 2 days so they sent someone to "fix" it twice until finally on the third day it overflowed all over the bathroom floor... maybe that was meant to be my ocean view?? - Front desk begrudgingly gave me a new room in which the AC didn't work (which they fixed) then on my last night when I thought things are finally going my way... at 12:30am the Hvac system starts making an obnoxious non-stop clicking noise. This is when I absolutely gave up and crashed in my parents room for the night. Big tip - if you do decide to stay here, don't wast your money on the Premium Level as it's totally not worth it. It may be at other Barcelo's but definitely not the Cabo location. All in all, spend a bit more and stay at a better hotel believe me, it's worth it!
T te he amazing Barceló trip
We had an amazing time !!! The best trip by far everyone in Barceló is amazing Isrrael and ariadna we amazing in the premium longe. Best stay ever. The food was great the drinks were amazing so much fun to do on the beach
What a place to stay!
This place was great! I did NOT wait a long time to check in. I did NOT get stuck in an elevator! I did NOT have an issue booking a spot at Jicamas or the Italian restaurant! Buffet was great, pool was great, cervezas delivered to you poolside, your fridge stocked with 4 beers every day! It's a decent walk to central San Jose del Cabo but easily doable, esp. if you like the Sun and the exercise! Loved every part of my stay, esp. leaving the door to the balcony open at night and listening to the ocean or people having a good time (maybe too good of a time!) at the karaoke nights!
