    Alux Restaurant

We toured the restaurants available at Sian Kan, Akumal, Coba and Tulum and the Alux Restaurant at Sian Kan was an absolute 10 out of 10. A MUST. Thank you for the best dinner we had on our vacation!!

Great time!! Enjoyed our couples massage, so relaxing!!

We really enjoyed our experience once again (we have been about 11 times to Gran Bahia including Jamaica). The staff were all so friendly. We highly recommend a couples massage at the spa. Ask for Kykey and Addbeitha, you will thank me!! We had great dinners at all of our specialty restaurants. The trolleys between resorts were quite a bit slower than in the past, so plan accordingly if you made a reservation. We will see you again next year!!

    Couple’s vacation

We just returned from a 9 day stay at this resort and had a wonderful vacation. We booked with Air Transat and the flight and transport to the resort went smoothly. We arrived at the resort before the 3 pm check in time and our room wasn’t ready so we had lunch and relaxed as it was a long travel day. It’s about an 1.5 hours ride from the airport. We were in building 17 which is probably one of the farthest buildings from the lobby and close to the activity pool. This was fine as we needed to walk off all the food we were eating. We downloaded the BP app before we left and booked our a la cartes in advance so we weren’t disappointed. Our favourites were Alux, Teppanaki, Seafood Restaurant and the Nikkei Mashua. Maiku wasn’t bad and worth trying. We tried Portifino and was disappointed and found the pasta very dry and pizza very plain. We didn’t try Don Pablo but heard it was very good. Breakfast and lunch at the buffet was good and better than average and they have a harpist on sat morning for entertainment which was nice. The staff are incredible and are always working hard, it’s true they don’t all speak English but we worked around it. Everyone from the staff in the buffet to the staff cleaning the seaweed at the beach were awesome. We used the shuttle multiple times and found it very easy. The beach and pools were nice and always got lucky getting the last few chairs, we’re late risers so usually only get there around 11. The only downside was the mattress as it was harder than what we’re used to which caused some back pains on the last few days but it could’ve been we had one of the older rooms. Our bus was picking us up at 6am for our return trip which is before the buffet opens so we ordered room service along with the bell boy to pick up our luggage and it went smoothly and breakfast was very good. They’ve introduced a new tax that we had to pay at checkin at the hotel which was $26USD for 2 people. There is also a visitors tax that you’re supposed to pay online but it’s a random check so if you don’t pay online you can pay at the airport when you’re going home, we were told to keep $25-30USD available in case we were required to pay. We would definitely return to this place and look forward to our next visit. Thanks to the Bahia Principe staff for a great vacation.

    Nice but not luxury

The location of the resort is beautiful being surrounded by lush plants and trees. The pools are lovely and there’s plenty of sunbeds. However we found the following to be worth pointing out: The facilities are tired and in need of upgrade and refurbishing (understandable this close to covid to be fair) the resort is not luxury The buffet food is fine but it is the same everyday - lunch and dinner The service is slow and impersonal. Many don’t speak english at all which makes arranging or asking anything really difficult and frustrating There is a lot going on and only 1 pool offers peace and quiet. There is constantly 2 different types of music fighting each other. The evening entertainment is awful except for the silent disco which was quite fun There is a shuttle which takes you to the other hotels/areas however we were never told about that at check in and trying to find out where each one goes is hard because of the language barrier. All in all we we’re disappointed but that is of entirely relative to our expectations.

Another amazing vacation at Sian Kaan!

2nd time staying at the Sian Kaan and we had a FANTASTIC VACATION! Staff is amazing, the buffet food was soooo good! Lots of fresh selections for every diet preference. We ate at 3 a la cartes which were great! Swimming with the fishes down at the ocean was incredible! We love the trolley ride around the resort, it’s efficient and handy. We used the infinity pool at the Akumal and it was lovely. Did some shopping at the Hacienda, and visited Playa del Carmen for a day. We are already planning our return visit!
