Relaxing and Accommodating
The resort was beautiful. Very well kept grounds. A few complaints; pools closed at 6pm, very hard to get into the restaurants on site, top shelf liquor was not included(very expensive if purchased separately and app was not functioning properly during our stay. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The rooms could use some refreshing to the accommodations.

Great place and clean
Excellent service and very clean. The restaurants were good, the bars were great and they have wonderful customer service! I would and will recommend the resort to anyone and everyone. Very accommodating and beautiful scenery. I would love to go back.

Not worth it, and not “Luxury”
Do not go to this resort! It is in no way a “Luxury” property (more of an 3-star) and needs major improvements. Except for the friendly and helpful staff, who we greatly appreciated, there are far too many problems here. We are two easygoing Canadians who had hoped for a relaxing week away with decent food, but we ended up feeling ripped off. Before I get into it, let me first single out some of the amazing staff who worked very hard to make our stay enjoyable: -Andrea at the lobby & pool, who was super friendly and lovely to us -Gary, our favourite bartender at the lobby bar -Tavan, our friendly and efficient server at the breakfast buffet -Vincent, who never failed to greet us with a big smile when he gave us our pool towels -Sofia, our server at the Mikado restaurante -Rolston, Shannall, and Daniel at the Takara Restaurant - Daniel, you were by far our favourite server at the entire resort! Unfortunately, most of my other comments are places where things could be improved: Room: -Generally tired, in need of a refresh -Bathroom had cracked tiles, no fan, and a leaky shower that soaked the bathroom floor -Bed linens were stained (yuck) -Bathroom amenities were limited to a few caddies bolted to the wall of the shower stall -Very few hangers in closet (we asked for more and received flimsy plastic ones) -Minibar was never restocked with our requests (despite our tips being taken) -Room service menu featured only 5 items, all more suitable for children than adults (hot dogs with cheese, penne with meat sauce, etc) -Bathrobes we’re provided but not laundered all week, simply hung back up (even if we left them on the floor) Pools: -The main pool featured all-day blaring music and drunk, yelling middle aged guests - this might be fun for some people, but we found it grating -A second pool was far too close to the party pool to be much quieter -Kids frequently migrated into our “Adults Only” pool, and this was largely ignored by the staff -Some pool bars were closed on some days -Loud lawn mowing all around the pool areas for several hours in the middle of each day seemed badly timed Beach: -Small but nice beach area was marred by constant harassment by sketchy men trying to sell us drugs -Water sports weren’t available on the “Luxury” side of the resort, as it has no swimmable beach, which we really missed -There was a narrow, reefed in, waist-deep stretch of water available to us, and snorkeling in this was fun, but the area got quite crowded, creating sort of a weird petting-zoo experience Restaurants: -Unfortunately, the food at this resort was uniformly mediocre to bad (only the buffet had decent options). -Reservations are required for all restaurant except the buffet, but most were fully booked as of our arrival day, probably because half of them were closed every night - also we noticed many empty tables in the restaurants, but we were still turned away from most if we asked to go in (with the exception of Takara, the Asian restaurant) -The Japanese restaurant Mikado, on the family side of the resort, had the worst food, and none of the mains were Japanese! (We’re still confused about this) -You’re required to scan a QR code for the menu of any restaurant, which doesn’t exactly give the “Luxury” feel they advertise (and what about people who don’t want to bring their phones to dinner?) Entertainment: -We were invited to pay extra to see a show on several days - this despite the fact that the only shows we heard about were on the kids side of the resort, and seemed meant for kids (magic show, etc) -Karaoke night in lobby one night was fun -Live music on the patio outside the lobby on a few nights was fine (a guitar player one night, on another a keyboard player) but didn’t live up to the hype of the “live entertainment shows” we thought we paid for

Not for disabled walkers!
The distances between the rooms and the places to eat are very long. The terrain is often uneven with no straight easy access to the buffet station and restaurants. There are no elevators down to the pool area. The staircases up to the food areas often have no railings. There are very few ramps. The access to the beach is difficult with no paved areas. It is poorly designed. Even the golf carts couldn’t get you close to the food building. The staff was lovely and helpful. The food at the buffet was plentiful but so-so. The food at the restaurants was good but there were limited reservations to those restaurants. The soap dispensers near all the restaurants were often empty which is not good for a healthy vacation.

Stay Away
Overall bad experience. Do not trust a word anyone there tells you. From changing my booking to not giving us the room we wanted, would not go again. Food was average at best. Showa were low budget and some you actually had to pay extra to see. Buildings need renovations badly.
