I was a little disappointed about the food
This was my second visit to this hotel and I must admit second time around was slightly disappointing. My main gripe was the food. I felt due to previous customer complaints the chefs are forced to loose their authenticity. Jamaica is known for not just its’ music but also for its flare of spices, yet never in my life had I seen cornmeal porridge cooked with pure water 🙈what on earth. Not even little coconut milk and nutmeg. Emancipate yourself from mental slavery non but yourself can free our mind. It’s so sad that this hotel fails to purchase local food which would help to showcase Jamaican cuisine. Poor representation of Jamaican food

Too large for me.
As a senior, I found moving around challenging. I requested a room close to the lobby. I got the furthest. To add salt to my wound, they locked me out a day early and i had to make the long trek back to the lobby to correct. The food was generally good, but the red meats at the buffet was not up to standard. The staff in Juan Pablo were not very flexible.

Ok but lacking.
My wife and I and another couple stayed here April into May 2025.Our holiday was to celebrate two milestone birthdays. On arrival we had a wonderful welcome by the staff who escorted us to our rooms and arranged for our luggage to be delivered as well. We stayed in the Adults only luxury side with ocean junior suites overlooking the pools. The rooms were decorated /furnished with colonial style furniture and were quite large with excellent views out to sea and of the pool and garden area .Sunsets were spectacular. The rooms did however appear to need a bit of a refresh with chipped furniture and fading paintwork. The rooms on the opposite side of the corridor look out over gardens AND the main Montego Bay to Ocho Rios road .And are very noisy . Jamaican drivers like to use their horn as much as possble. The corridors are open at each end and open to the elements The Pools in front of our rooms were nice with swim-up bars . There were three swimup bars but only ever two open at a time. There was a waiter/waitress service taking orders and bringing them to your sunbeds. The main pool in front/below our rooms became Party central with Loud Music and various activities in the water from 1200 to its closure at 1800. They seem to sell day tickets to locals or other holiday makers who eat and drink as much as possible before leaving .Therefore you couldn't really sit out on your balcony and enjoy some peace and quiet or read a book or anything. There are 8 of what are described " al la carte " restaurants which you book with the Bahia app on your phone. We tried to book for these as soon as they were available to us and found that they were all fully booked. On arrival some became available but others were showing fully booked still. The restaurants that were consistently " fully booked " weren't .They were actually closed due to under occupancy of the resort. This meant we had no chance of trying them at all. We ate at 4 of the restaurants but they were nothing special. We ate most nights at the adult buffet ( also for breakfast) .There was a selection of Jamaican food and plenty of other items to choose from. But it got a bit dull/ repetitive after 2 weeks. There are various bars across the resort all with excellent hard working staff working hard to serve guests. And doing a great job as well. The staff are all hard working pleasant ,and try to serve and help you as much as possible.Always smiling and asking if they can get you anything. Unfortunately there is not much else around the resort other than other resorts ,so leaving and having a look around town or the local area wasn't really an option. We enjoyed our holiday with our friends and had a birthday meal for two of us, where the staff delivered a birthday cake to us and sang and danced round the table. This was our first trip to the Caribbean and Jamaica. Would we go back to Runaway Bay Bahia Principe Luxury? 4 of us said not.

Tired hotel. Room allocation appalling
The hotel is tired and unclean. Not like in other countries for chain. Room allocation is garden view but only view is of some houses in the next complex. Manager not interested. Loyalty means nothing. Will find a new hotel chain next time. Gold member of loyalty scheme means nothing. Been using Bahia principe mainly in Mexico for years. Management do not want to know. Better hotels around. Try them instead.
