Bahai Prinicipe Lxury Ambar review
Terrific venue with so much to offer. Beautifully maintained grounds. Overall, pleasant, friendly staff (although some, so-so...). Entertainment/activities had something for everyone, whether it was in the lobby, at the pool or on the beach, with staff jumping from role to role to role; sometimes even with costume changes. Such energy & enthusiasm. I especially enjoyed morning Spanish lessons with both Rolando as well as Grabiel (great guys & patient too). I did manage to pick up a few words & expressions, so muchas gracias. The bachata dance lesson was so much fun; I would have loved more of that (i.e. more songs to dance to). Speaking of dance... As a line dancer (& instructor), I would really like to see some of that at the resort, in addition. It's lots of fun. Start with the easy dances (with easily learnable moves), so anyone can join in... El Divos were especially magnificant but that's not to take away from the other varied musical shows (both musicians & singers). The acrobatic circus show was thrilling. Oh my, the talent... Our regular room cleaner was just amazing & so helpful; she always had a big smile & a welcoming hello, each day (Building 61 - Ygnacias Celente(?)). We managed to communicate effectively with my very poor efforts at Spanish. She is a true gem & definitely, a keeper! At the lobby bar, Mauri was most often our server. She was terrific & usually knew our order before we did. So friendly & engaging; don't lose her! The restaurants provided a great selection: again, something to satisfy all, no matter your diet or preferences. We enjoyed both buffets, the Sports bar, Portofino, the Meat restaurant, as well as the Fish Market, next door. I do, however, wished we'd known that we could have tried out more of the available restaurants at the other BP resorts on the grounds. Perhaps, it was mentioned, but there was so much to take in, initially. Regrettably, we realized that too late in our stay. But, we'll certainly know for next time. Two ladies, in particular, at the morning pool buffet (Ingrid, the greeter & a tall, slim lady (long, reddish hair?) were outstanding. Once, we sorted out our tea (honey & citrus for me + hot water & honey for my sister) & coffee (for the guys) wishes, they had a table waiting for us (for 4) each day & had our tea & coffee at the ready. Thank you, ladies. Charming, as well as attentive. Now, one thing did bother me. What you ask? Well, it was actually the other guests. It was such a surprise to see folks with such poor manners & lack of respect. Certainly, at times to the staff & sometimes, to see such waste. Some folks would order drink after drink after drink, then not even bother to enjoy it. I often saw tables filled with full/nearly full glasses & they'd bring back more from the bar (both lobby, as well as pool bars). Or, the same thing at the buffet. Why take that much food, if you aren't going to eat it? Just because it's an all-inclusive doesn't mean that you should abuse it. It makes us tourists all look bad. Also, it wasn't uncommon to see bare feet in the lobby or pool buffet, as well as no shirts for the guys or the ladies without wearing proper cover-ups in that area or the main lobby. In the main lobby, one guy came stroliing in with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. Really? Please people, have some common courtesy & respect! This is a 5-start resort, not the beach or a back yard pool party. We did find that rather uncouth. It's ok at the pool or the beach, but definitely not in the other common areas. Is there a dress code? If not, maybe post something? It should be obvious, but clearly, it is not. Afterall, this is an adult resort; there should be some common sense. Also, what's with feeding the cats when there are signs posted everywhere. Many times, people were feeding the cats just outside of the main lobby (on the path leading to the pool). The cats even got into someone's food tray outside of their room. What a mess that was! And, I even saw a couple feeding cats at their breakfast table in the pool buffet. Seriously? Who wants cats begging for food at the tables? In closing, we did 10 days, but have already decided that we would do two weeks next time. That's the only way this trip could have been any better. A most relaxing, enjoyable & entertaining vacation in the sun, away from the realities of a harsh Canadian winter. Many thanks BP, for a wonderful stay!

Not a 5 star hotel
Spent 14 nights here and unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. Buffet was limited choice and food consistently cold. Service ok. A La Carte was hit and miss. Some experiences were great, the Mexican was appalling both service and cold food and the Greek was just okay. Yurta was a great experience, we enjoyed Limbo and Meat. Very limited shade around pool or beach. We were up before 7 to see sunrise and not a single umbrella was available. Plenty of towels reserving beds! Not enough chairs in Lobby/bar area. We used bars at Aqua Marine as they seemed to have much more space and also the outside bar at Esmeralda was pleasant. No Coke lite/Pepsi Max on most days. Mentioned to Guest relations on a few occasions so they did put small bottles in the room but crazily not available in the bars. It’s a huge site with access to all areas apart from Fantasia. We liked to have a walk every day but you really to have to take your life in your own hands and the golf buggy/shuttle train drivers are mad. Also not very well lit paths, some buggy’s are black and they don’t always have working lights! Not sure if there was ever anything happening up in ‘The Village’. Shops and casino and function area/stage at the top end of Grand Punta Cana Hotel. Looked tatty and old. All in all, a very disappointing hotel. We have been to far superior 4 star hotels. I would not recommend this and in my opinion is not 5 star, nor is it Luxury.

Not A Five-Star Experience
Our stay at Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar did not meet five-star expectations. I would rate it closer to a 2.5–3 star resort. We arrived at 2:45 p.m., and our room was not ready even after returning to the desk at 3:15. The staff initially tried to move us to a room directly in the pool area, but we declined due to the expected noise from daily parties. Instead, we were placed two units back from the pool. Unfortunately, we were next to a maintenance area and heard constant clanking carts and service noise throughout the day and as late as 11:00 p.m., making it difficult to relax. The property appears poorly maintained. In our room, bathroom dispensers were loose and difficult to use, the conditioner was never refilled during our stay, a dresser drawer fell off its rails, and a bedside light fixture broke and could not be turned off. Service was inconsistent. Staff often seemed bothered by requests, and simple items like coffee at breakfast were missed most days. We also met other guests dealing with broken air conditioning and no hot water. Overall, this was a disappointing stay and not the luxury experience advertised.

Definitely not 5 Star
Hotel was lovely and clean, rooms spacious. Staff at the Sports bar are great as well at the snack bar by the pool.Thats as good as it gets. Check in is absolutely chaotic, nobody explains anything. Hotel lobby bar very busy, two people taking drinks orders,8 guest service agents wondering around. Lobby restaurant, the staff never look at you, they pour your drinks without looking, too busy looking around so spill half of it. Food not too warm but edible. We had no hot water four days out of seven and no water on one of the days, think I spoke to guest services more times than I did my husband. Don’t bother with the Tui Rep if you don’t want to book trips she’s just not interested. She seemed to genuinely dislike cruise passengers, that was the general consensus by guests. Sun beds are crammed together you do get to know your neighbours wether you want to or not , lots of umbrellas broken Entertainment staff are the hardest working Beach was lovely and the sea warm Book restaurants before you come, recommend the steak house. Need to take the word luxury off and call it the Amber, this is no luxury hotel

Overall a good hotel, but needs to be updated. Adults only was a good choice.
Very nice hotel which is adults only. Good choice of restaurants and very friendly staff. Entertainment Team were great & encouraging to those who were willing to join in. Rooms are a bit tired, could do with updating as paintwork was tatty. Air conditioning worked, but could not adjust temperature. Again, could do with being updated. All restaurants were nice if you pre-booked via the app. If you are at this hotel you are able to go to others next door. We had a browse in these, but they didn’t seem as nice and were also quite noisy during the day. Good idea to tip your maid on day of arrival, they work very hard & appreciate it. Punta Cana airport very slow, be prepared to wait…quite a while & very hot.
