The best!
Honest review ♥️ Just returning home from the most amazing family holiday staying at The Bahía Príncipe Akumal Luxury. Bedrooms The hotel is under renovations at present, bedrooms are a little dated decor wise (which didn’t bother us at all) however the functionality of the rooms does need improvement…a few small faults and only two plug sockets not near the beds for charging phones etc the lighting is pretty dim for getting ready, no long mirrors etc …and people do report the air con can be temperamental. That being said they are updating all bedrooms so this won’t be an issue for them soon and it didn’t ruin any enjoyment of our holiday. I would recommend taking a charging bank for charging phones/devices etc as plug sockets are limited. The housekeeping staff were amazing, bedding was perfect every day, mini fridge was re stocked and we never had to ask for fresh towels. Room service is available 24/7 we did it three times during a 10 day stay and the food was delivered to our door hot with all the cutlery, sauces etc by wonderful staff. Resort/pools Wow. Just amazing! As most reviews mention you can hop on the buggy’s which you never wait more than 5 minutes for to use the sister hotels. The pools are amazing. We enjoyed the pool at Akumal the most the entertainment, swim up bar, close proximity to the wonderful beach etc you just couldn’t fault it. The kids splash park at Tulum was also really enjoyable for my 6 year old son. The splash park at Coba was bigger but the floor is rough and my son got a few scrapes there and he was harder to watch as it gets v busy but nether-less definitely worth a visit! Kids club The most amazing kids club we’ve ever experienced. It feels so organised and safe. The staff are just wonderful, beautiful people! They made my son feel so special and they do so many activities and have so so much fun with them. They also update you throughout the day with WhatsApp photos/messages and are always easy to communicate with. Joss, Cuauhtemoc, Tina, Eduardo, and Sofia I can’t thank you all enough you made my sons holiday and I felt like crying when we had to leave you guys! We would return to this hotel purely for the kids club! Food/Service Food was consistently good everywhere throughout the resorts. The buffet in Akumal is amazing to say it gets so busy too! Pool side snack bars are great for fast food type options if you don’t want a seated meal in the buffet. I will really miss the breakfasts especially! Our favourite restaurants were La Gran Tortuga, Dolce Vita, Mediterraneano, Thali and Portifino. Best dining experience was the live cooking tepanyaki. I would skip the Mexican buffet as one of your restaurant choices as it’s pretty much the same as what you can get at the hotel buffet and the food was cold and it was the only place we were underwhelmed with (speaking to a few other guests they said the same) The waiters/waitresses and bar staff all work so so hard they never stop, they are always on the go and can not do enough for you. The staff on the pool bar do not get a single second rest and they do it all with a smile. I really think the staff at this resort make it super special and in general everywhere we went Mexican people are beautiful! …Special mention for Allessandro at Dolce Vita who was amazing with my son. Bars/Drink/entertainment We loved the sports bar in akumal, very laid back for casual drinks and nice music/singers etc The main lobby bar had some brilliant shows too. You get such good value for money with the drinks, pretty much all branded drinks are available with no surcharge. The cocktails are fab! The entertainment staff were incredible, high energy all day every day right through to the evenings. Cesilia had a real good energy and talent getting everyone up to dance and have a great time, I loved doing her water aerobics etc I didn’t get the gentleman’s names but they were all fabulous too, they never stop and work so hard! We especially loved the foam party which I believe is every Saturday such good fun! Tips The weather is very humid if you haven’t been before, clothes can feel damp and never fully dry, if you take some wardrobe dehumidifiers this definitely helps. My mum brought a couple for us and I couldn’t believe how full they were after just one day. Chargeable table fans are great if you struggle with the heat. Mosquitos are rife, I would suggest bringing the strongest repellent you can and lots of it! If you’re planning on doing any of the trips (cenotes, natural parks, jungle buggies etc) bring a change of gym clothes or something you can cover your body with but get wet. I covered up and I didn’t get many bites compared to people in swimwear who got covered in them! You can get sun lotion with repellent in which is a great tip! Hydrocortisone cream is brilliant for taking the sting out of bites. Bring things like goggles, a snorkel for the beach the sea life is amazing! A waterproof camera/waterproof phone pouch is a great investment if you like taking pics/videos on the trips/at the beach the water is so clear I got amazing videos of the sea turtles/fish etc. (it wouldn’t let me share videos see rachel.partyboutique on tik tok I shared some videos) Bring your own insulated cups. All these things are very expensive at the hotel shop so it’s worth bringing them from home. This has been my absolute favourite all inclusive family holiday, memories to last a lifetime! Our first time in Mexico, it has so much to offer and the people are just so wonderful this holiday will always have a special place in my heart, can’t wait to come back! Thank you Bahía Príncipe! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic Holiday
As a family of 4 including 2 adults, 15 and 14 year old girls. We returned 2 weeks ago from a fantastic holiday in Mexico and I can say it’s been one of the best. We have previously stayed in the Moon Palace so whilst this isn’t quite as good, our expectations were high. We chose this hotel as it allowed us to have access to the two sister hotels The Coba and the Tulum who were close by and easily accessible by golf buggy or walking distance. Upon entering the Akamal impressive lobby, we were checked in quickly and taken to our 2 junior suites which were next door to each other. The room smelt a little musty and the decor is a little dated but as you don’t spend much time in the room, it wasn’t an issue. The air conditioning was good in the room which was great. Mini fridge was basic and apparently you had to request to get it filled up. Room cleaners were great and always nice to come back to a nice clean room. All the restaurants were amazing, the quality of food outstanding and service too. We are not fans of the buffet so we love the Al La Carte. Our only criticism is that a majority of them have inadequate air conditioning. Sadly the lunchtime snack bars were being refurbished so lunch was in the main buffet unless you walked to the other hotels or were already at them. Sports bar is great later on at night. Loungers not enough under the shade so had to resort to going to the Tulum pool or Coba pool. We did manage to get shade on the last day as we got up at 5:45 am which is ridiculous. Shade and loungers be found at the Cobra and Tulum if you go around 7-7:30 am. We tan quite easily but needed the shade as burnt on the first day despite using factor 50. They really need to have more sun beds in the shade. We went to the silent disco one night which was brilliant fun. We didn’t see any shows as we had dinner late so often missed them but there was an entertainment schedule which was varied. We wish we’d gone off site to the Mexican show but didn’t get round to it. Transport between the hotels is good but during peak time is really busy. Gym is quite poor and only 2,running machines, 1 bike and another bike with a broken seat. I cross trainer. This needs improving as too hot to run outside unless it’s 6am. I know not everyone goes to the gym on holiday but we like to. Day excursion -Zel-Ha Would strongly recommend this place for a day out . We snorkelled, cliff jumped, zip lined and did a lazy river. We have two children 15 and 14 and had a great day out. We booked independently and got a taxi as was cheaper. All the staff say hello and are so polite and this was so lovely. They were so accommodating and the owners should be so proud of them. They work tirelessly in the heat. The poor workers clearing the sand off the beaches in the heat. The beaches were so gorgeous and water so clear. Lots of colourful little fish swimming round you. There are lots of sunbeds too and the beech bar is lovely with its swing. Don’t forget you do get access to paddle boarding and canoeing which is between the Akamal and the Tulum. So to summarise, the hotel is lovely, food amazing and staff are great. We’d definitely return in a few years and I think we’ll struggle to find another holiday which ticks all the boxes.

Fantastic resort !
If you’re going to visit this resort, you need to ignore all the negative reviews. This resort is fantastic. I would imagine all the negative reviews I read prior to going from people who expect far too much. You need to remember this is a five star Mexican resort it’s not the equivalent of a five star resort in the centre of London. I visited with my wife and two boys, and we’ve just returned after a fantastic 12 night visit to the hotel . We arrived late afternoon after a long flight from London Gatwick. Once we arrived, we walked into a beautiful resort and we’re welcomed with a drink as we checked in. We stayed in Villa 74, which was quite a distance from the lobby, but the little trolleys that pick you up and drop you off were fantastic, always stopping by to ask if you want a lift when they saw us walking. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated but perfect for what we needed. We had a very large king-size bed and two single beds for the boys. The room was cleaned every day, beds made, and although the minibar was restocked whenever we need like we did have to phone down on a few occasions to get it refilled. Overall, the room was perfect for what we needed, traditional Mexican style. The air conditioning worked perfectly. In fact we had to switch the air-conditioning off a couple of times as it got a bit too cold ! The best thing about this resort is the size, the place is absolutely huge, I’ve never been to such a massive resort . There is so much to do, so many different pools to visit depending on whether you want activities or just time to relax in the quiet surroundings. We split our time between the different resorts, mainly staying in Akumal but we also loved Tulum as they have a kids splash, park and slides. The pools are so well looked after they’re clean and sparkling. However being August they were very warm! The staff at this place are fantastic. They will do everything they can to give you the very best holiday. They are happy and polite all the time we couldn’t ask for a better group of staff to look after us. We did take some US dollars to tip and I used them all. Generally I tipped a dollar or 2 to the people who will bring your drinks at the pool and then $5 or so if we got exceptional service at dinner time. Not everybody tips but they done such a good job. I thought they deserved it. The food was on the whole great. Wesaw reviews before we came out that talked about how poor the food was in the buffet. I’m not sure where these people are used to eating, but we found the buffet to be excellent. The food was always plentiful and varied and there’s always something to eat, even with two fussy eater children. In particular breakfast was great. Fresh omelettes made to order, variety of different eggs, bacon etc. Loads of different fruit, pancakes, waffles, muffins, doughnuts, cakes, everything you could possibly want for breakfast. They will also bring you anything you want to drink for breakfast and me and my wife had a mimosa every morning with breakfast. We mainly eat at the buffet, but we did book ourselves into some of the à la cart restaurants. We ate at the seafood restaurant and paid extra for lobster. We also ate at the Brazilian restaurant which was fantastic. We also ate at Italian in Coba. For lunch, we either ate in the buffet or had a snack by the pool. They do burgers and hotdogs and chips by the main pool and on a couple of occasions, they did fresh paella by the quiet pool which was delicious. We saw some reviews before we came out, but talked about the air-conditioning in the restaurants and public areas. Please don’t worry about this we found it to be more than adequate and only one night we felt it was a bit hot but on the whole the air-conditioning was fine and more than cool enough to eat your dinner and enjoy the evening. Now just a couple niggles which didn’t ruin the holiday, but I think could be improved. There is a definite lack of shade at the pools. There are more than enough sunbeds for everyone, but if you want shade, you will need to get up early to reserve a sunbed and parasol. It didn’t bother me as I’m an early riser and I got up at 6 am with the rest of the dawn patrol to secure some beds and parasols for me and my family. However, I think the management need to review this and get more parasols by the pools. Another niggle is the cost of the shops in the lobby. If you want some extra snacks like crisps etc these will set you back a small fortune. A large bag of crisps in the hotel lobby shop were over $10! Just a couple of niggles, which, in the grand scheme of things are so minor, not a major issue. The only other thing you should be aware of is the roadworks heading back to Cancun airport. Our transfer picked us up at 11:40 am and we didn’t arrive at the airport until 3:30 pm. We were somewhat panicking that we might miss our flight but all was fine. TUI probably need to remember this and pick people up earlier for their flight ! All in all a fantastic holiday, beautiful resort, fantastic people, huge range of drinks, fantastic food and beautiful weather. We couldn’t have asked for a better family holiday !

Margarita doble
Fantastic experience full of good food, solid drinks, and fun experience all for an excellent value. If you’re reading this, do yourself a favor and just book it. Having access to all four BP properties made it feel like you were getting way more than you paid for

Brilliant Honeymoon
We choose this hotel for our honeymoon and would totally recommend it! We are both 29 years old and wanted something fun but also somewhere relaxing & this resort was spot on!! I need to note right off the back that it’s a 2 hour bus transfer from the airport. On arrival we were greeted with a drink of cava each and lovely staff ready to check us in. Previous to our stay we downloaded the app and I chose a room close to the adults only pool and Los Corales which was building 64. I would recommend downloading the Bahia Principe app as you get to choose your room a few days before and also get to choose all your A La Carts. Our room was lovely, dated but lovely! We had a banner that said happy honeymoon, chocolates, cava and little bits and bobs in our room when checked in. There’s a trolley that picks you up right outside the building and takes you to the main lobby where the buffet, entertainment etc is. It’s also about a 7 minute walk if you wanted to walk. I personally felt that Tulum entertainment area was much better then Akumal. Their sports bar and bar was outside and they had a DJ playing music where as Akumal had people singing live but I suppose this is my preference. Our favourite A La Cartes were Dolce Vita (Italian) and Los Corales (steak) both in Akumal, then Mikado was a teppanyaki bar that they cook the food in front of you that was in Coba, and Gran Tortuga was like Brazilian where they bring the meats on a skewer and put it on your plate that was in Tulum. Maiko was a Japanese in Sian Khan (we would say this was our favourite out of them all) we also booked Tequila because it was Mexican but personally I wouldn’t rate it, it’s a buffet and the food you get at it is basically at the hotels buffet anyway. I’m trying to think of more stuff but I’m writing this review in August when I should have wrote the review back in April when it was all fresh in my mind. I know it’s getting renovated right now and the rooms are looking so much better. I would definitely book here again!
