    Not that great… next!

The location of the resort is great, right on a swimming beach. Our 2 bedroom suite in the remodeled side of the hotel was nice and spacious. Buffet food was good. The a la carte restaurants were just ok, our favorite was Don Pablo. It was difficult to make any dinner reservations because they were already full on the first day that we arrived. The hotel app did not work, and was useless. The cocktails were awful. The bar tenders were not knowledgeable about making any proper cocktails. The quality was poor. They used fake syrups for all the mixers, instead of real fruit juices which they have access to. They couldn’t even make a simple classic margarita correctly. It was not worth the all inclusive for us, because the drinks and food were pretty bad, we ended up going down to the Kay beach club, down the beach everyday for lunch and bought food and cocktails there, which was not part of the hotel. We stayed here for 8 days, and would not stay at this resort again.

    Do not go

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I think the nice reviews are fake. There is NO way this hotel is a 5 star hotel/resort of any kind. We had a horrible experience at this establishment. It was so bad that we checked out early and went to another hotel (all 8 of us!). They need work on hospitality all around. The hotel staff are rude and unfriendly. The grounds and rooms are not clean. The food was not edible, it was hot and looked like last week's food. The buffet didn't have enough spatulas for each item. The pool area is dirty. They ran out of pool towels at 4pm (it closes at 7pm). The beds were hard as a rock. If you are looking for a resort, this is not it.

Great resort lots to see and do!!

I visited this resort for the first time back in 2013 and just returned from my second trip ( may28-June 4) I have to say the resort is even better than I remembered. They have done great upgrades and it’s very clean! The food is amazing! The beach grill had lunch every day and it was great. The food truck had great food fast service and drink service at your table. La grand tortuga restaurant was the best Al la carte ! Rooms were great I stayed in 33317 and it was close to lobby , pools and beach great location. The service was even better!! Lino at checkin was amazing, he remembered our room number ( when I couldn’t lol) and made sure we were happy. Even when the air conditioning quit in the whole resort they made sure we were looked after by offering rooms in other locations. We never took them as we knew they were working hard to fix the problems and they did!! Good thing to because it was +34 feeling like 46 with 89% humidity. Saying it was hot is an understatement ( riviera was under heat wave warning the whole time we were there) . Once the air conditioning was fixed they delivered chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of tequila ( complimentary) amazing service! Jesus (bell hop) was amazing. He drove us around in the carts when we wanted a lift . He was very friendly and always willing to help us find rides off the resort. The only complaint was the beach had a lot of segas but that is not the resorts fault and they did there very best to clean it up. Thanks for the great stay ! I will be back:)

Please please please avoid like the plague… expectation is you are about to have a five star hotel if you want an experience even close to five star being as much money as you paid for the holiday to tip people! Genuinely a hotel where a two year old can’t get a glass of water before 10am and room can remain I cleaned for four days… if you would like to give staff money they will give at best average service but don’t worry if you have paid hard money for the experience as long as you are willing to wait and be patronised you’ll be fine. Honestly a shocking experience, tried best with family to make it the best we could and made a complaint to guest services response was a big patronising smile and a yes maybe yes we could help but not going to. Good luck to anyone and from the mentality here the team will say thank you for your feedback and we are sorry we will look into this but actually do nothing.

Grand Bahia Principe Tulum was great

Beautiful resort, amazing staff- so friendly and they do all possible to ensure we’re having a fantastic holiday. Shout out to these staff: La Gran Tortuga: Paulinho, Francisco, Carla, Andres and La Isla pool bar: Jose (best drinks ever!) and the Cangrejo pool bar: Francisco … so many others! Be prepared to do tons of walking! Massive resort & despite the trolly/carts around, there’s still a lot of walking. No true beach to swim in the ocean, no snorkeling. The water is rough there and we didn’t feel comfortable to swim. Food was amazing, both buffet & a la carte. Some restaurants are located in neighbouring resorts so, be prepared to get ready sooner to allow time to get there. Entertainment was great, lots of live music which we enjoyed. Weather was hot & so awesome! Viva Mexico 🇲🇽
