    Amazing vacation in paradise

We just returned from an amazing week at the Bahia Principe Grand in Jamaica. We have been to this resort many times, and are never disappointed. Kimesha Campbell from Customer Service was absolutely wonderful! We had some issues checking in online and booking a la carte dinners, and Kimesha was able to help us get the reservations we wanted. Our favourite restaurant was the Knife. The servers and the food were fabulous! We went there twice, and on our second visit the server from the first visit met us at the door and showed us to a table in his section! Phenomenal service We also ate at Don Pablo and Mikado. Both of these were also very good service and food quality. The jerk chicken shack was our favourite lunch spot from other trips, but this time we found ourselves going to the buffet for lunch after 3-4 days. The food quality was good, but there were a lot of issues with running out of jerk chicken, running out of plates and being overly crowded. We are not beach people, so our time was spent around the pool. The pool is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This is one of our favourite vacation spots and we will definitely be coming back

    An honest review

Arrival check in was simple and we were in our room 18119 within 15 minutes. Room was large and airy, plenty of lighting and very clean. We had an issue with hot water after 2 days and following our 2nd call to the desk we were moved that afternoon to room 18111, which was identical but had no issues. The maid service was up to scratch mostly, we had to ask for fresh towels once. There were issues topping up the minibar and the coffee and creamer which were resolved with a phone call, but this was on numerous occasions. We’re we’re all bitten by mosquitoes on numerous occasions, there is no form off deterrent used by the hotel. This is not the service you expect from at top class hotel The food was acceptable, we never struggled for anything to eat and the made to order pasta was excellent. The a la carte restaurants were ok but only that. The service in the buffets was sometimes slower than expected. If you happen to be there on a holiday such as we were for Mothers Day then expect large numbers of local to visit for the day or weekend and this certainly stretched the resources of the hotel. The pool areas are very good, kept clean, but it can be a struggle to get beds after 08.30. The far beach although a bit of a walk is great. The bars are ok, we tended to use the lobby bar and the sports bar, service is excellent if you tip initially, and Nadine in the lobby bar was great. The beer can sometimes be flat but we had no issues with the regular spirits or cocktails. The entertainment is a bit sparse for a large hotel, yes they do have shows in the theatre but we did not go. Overall we enjoyed

    Fantastic hotel

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Nice modern and clean. Room was perfect, staff very helpful, wide variety of food and a great gym to work it all off. Entertainment was excellent. Would recommend to anyone. The room I stayed in was a suite which was nice and airy, with lovely views of the sea and pool. The gym was well equipped and opening times were fantastic, 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. The best part of my stay was the pool side entertainment, aqua aerobics, games, dancing. And the jerk bar was near by. Absolutely enjoyed my time at the hotel.

We left Early — Easily the Worst Hotel We’ve Stayed At in Jamaica

We’ve visited Jamaica multiple times and stayed at three other resorts — all wonderful. This hotel? Not even close. We left two days early. Check-in was a disaster. No welcome, no help with luggage. Bellhops watched us struggle with our own bags. Our travel agent booked the wrong room (not the hotel’s fault), but when we asked for a room with double beds, the front desk shrugged it off. Their solution? A twin bed or the sofa for our 7-year-old. That night they delivered a twin bed and a crib. We don’t have a baby. The room, hotel hallways, and elevators were filthy. Balcony door didn’t lock. Safe and front door lock both broke. Layers of dust everywhere — ceiling fan, phone, trim, floors. Cigarette burns on the bedspread decor. The hallway stank of fish and hadn’t been vacuumed in years. Housekeeping didn’t clean properly. Dirty glasses sat for days. Another guest told us they had roaches. Restaurants ran out of food constantly. The Japanese spot had no AC and limited menu options. Buffets weren’t restocked. Jamaican dishes were either unavailable or not replenished. Staff seemed annoyed when we asked for anything. Bars weren’t consistently open. Reservations were impossible. At one point, only one buffet was open and it was packed. Staff were cold and unwelcoming. We didn’t expect luxury service — just basic politeness. But we were ignored and treated like a burden. The few pros: Cabana service was excellent (thank you Savannah), and Piscus had good lunches. Pool bar staff were friendly. That’s it. We spent most of our time outside just to avoid the dirty, neglected rooms. This place is a solid 1/5. We read the glowing reviews beforehand — we truly don’t know how those are real. Skip this resort.

    Worst family vacation!!!

I've been to Jamaica 10 times, stayed at 7 different resorts. This is by far the worst. My entire family had diarrhea the whole time. 3 of my children came back with salmonella, which kept us home for more than 2 weeks sick and followed by public health. The hotel had one operating elevator, which we sweated and waited for multiple times per day. The only saving grace is the staff are nice and courteous. The beach and the grounds are beautiful, but by far the worst resort I've ever stayed in. The rooms are old and outdated. Will never return! Oh and they buy reviews with a bottle of rum.
