    Family vacation

Our second time at the grand coba. Had an amazing week. Staff were amazing. Food was really good, tried a couple a la carte restaurants which were also great. No complaints. The resort is really big but easy to navigate. We'll maybe head back for a 3rd visit sometime. A bit of a trek from the airport which eats into the arrival and departure day but not a huge issue.

    Great Place to Stay

We are a family of 4 and had a 2 week stay at Coba. Lovely hotel, the a la carte restaurants were great with a couple of them exceeding my expectations. Coba have some really friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is in a remote location so you would need to get a taxi if you wanted to go anywhere. The sister hotels are just a golf cart ride away. The rooms are clean and spacious, I would recommend bringing a plug socket strip as there was only one plug socket in our room. We didn't have to queue for the buffet restaurant at any time. The bars can be super busy at night but thats to be expected. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and it's location to family and friends.

    HOT HOT HOT

I will begin with some of the better things. Rooms were large and comfortable, pools were plentiful, food was plentiful. The other side of this was that the room was hot, the pools were hot and dirty, and the food was awful. I don't know how anyone can eat that food and not get sick. It was terrible and usually not hot and has been sitting out for a long time. The a la carte restaurants aren't much better. If you are going to have specialty restaurants then you should at least be able to make meals that aren't terrible. Air conditioning, please figure out how to fix the AC. I understand that Mexico is hot and I can accept that but I want somewhere that I can go to cool down. The room was hot, the restaurants were hot, the lobby was hot, the shops were hot. It was intolerable. The pools heat up so much during the afternoon that they are no longer pools at the end of the day, they are hot tubs. The water temps were easily over 100 degrees. They are not refreshing.

    Stay was a mixed bag

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a mixed bag of results. I felt the need to post some pros and cons here for others who might be considering this resort. Pro’s: -Room was clean, dated but clean -Employees were very friendly -Pools were large enough that finding a quiet spot was not an issue -Food was good, desserts and the chorizo were amazing. As was the Italian a la cart -You can order a Frappuccino from any bar -Sports Bar during the day was supper quiet and cooler than other spots -Entertainment was good. Saw the magic show and we were impressed -Bed was comfortable, if you like super stiff mattresses Con’s -No AC in any building except your room, including buffet -Room AC was barely adequate, we slept with out blankets the entire stay. -Pools are only 3.5 feet deep, felt like I was in a kid’s pool -Resort is very large, we averaged 5000-7000 steps a day -No elevators -Awful water pressure. We turned the faucet on and not a drop of water came out -Could not get more than one a la cart reservation, allowed 3 per 7 day stay, 2 per 5 day stay -Buffet was poorly ventilated. On BBQ nights the whole place filled with smoke Contacting the resort after you leave is impossible. Trying to contact them to see if my lost item was found is a nightmare.
