Brilliant Family Holiday!
We are a family of 4 from the UK with two boys aged 8 and 4. We stayed at the Fantasia from 30.07.23 to 13.08.23. Before arriving we were a bit apprehensive due to a lot of the recent negative reviews. However, we can honestly not understand what a lot of people are complaining about! Rooms We stayed in villa 99 on the second floor overlooking the trees. On arrival the room was cleaned to a very good standard and it was in pretty good shape considering the hotel is a few years old now. Everything worked fine and the AC worked for our entire stay. Beds are comfortable enough and the sheets and pillowcases are clean. The room was cleaned well everyday and the butler stocked up the fridge everyday also. If there are any particular drinks you want you can leave a note for him with any requests (we didn’t need to though). Only negative is that sometimes it could be a bit noisy at night with guests coming back to their rooms late at night, talking loudly and letting their kids scream. This is not a negative for the hotel though, more so the lack of respect from other guests! Food We found the food to be of a good standard in both the buffets and speciality restaurants. We were not ill at all during our stay. There was always plenty of choice and the food was tasty. The plates, cutlery, napkins and tables were always clean and we can honestly say that we never saw any cockroaches at any of the eating places during our stay. We ate at the Italian and the Japanese (Teppenyaki), both were really good and we left feeling stuffed! The Fantasia beach restaurant does really good fried chicken. We ordered room service a couple of times, it was always on time and the food was of a good standard. Again, never saw any cockroaches! Sometimes the main buffet, Larimar, could be busy and a bit hectic at times especially at dinner. The buffet in the Garden Circus was much quieter and definitely more relaxed. Hotel The hotel itself was very well attended to and the groundskeeping staff do a brilliant job. The pools were clean, even the pool with the swim up bar. The kids splash pool with the slides is good although we did prefer the water park by the Turquesa as it was not as busy. There is always entertainment going on by the main pool and there are plenty of sunloungers available. Only negative is that it would have been better if there were more umbrellas available as these were always taken/reserved very early in the morning. You can also access the Grand Punta Cana, Bavaro and Turquesa hotels on the complex which was a good extra. You can use the golf carts/buggies to get around the complex as it is huge. They are pretty frequent and you don’t have to wait long. Staff We found the staff to be really friendly and helpful. We honestly can’t understand how other people have said they are rude! They work hard are brilliant with the kids. The entertainment team never stop. Some of the staff do not speak very good English (the majority of guests come from Spanish speaking countries). This was never a problem though. We did tip where possible and this was always appreciated. Tip if you can as the majority of staff are on very low wages. Beach The beach was nice and clean. There was never a problem finding sunloungers with shade. Yes, there was seaweed but it did not affect our enjoyment of the beach. The staff work hard in the mornings trying to clear it but unfortunately it is a never ending battle. You will be approached a couple of times by beach vendors. This wasn’t an issue though, if you are not interested just say ‘no thank you’ and they move on. Bugs There are quite a lot of mosquitos as expected, got bitten a few times but was not too bad. We only saw two cockroaches during our stay and both times they were in the garden areas at night. This is to be expected though as it is a tropical climate. Overall, we had a brilliant holiday at the Fantasia and would definitely recommend. Our boys did not want to leave! Gracias Bahia Principe!

It's a no.
Never wrote a review before, but felt it necessary to help others avoid the same disappointment. If you don't want to bother reading this whole review, just book somewhere else. Pros - The staff is hard working. You will always have some staff that are not the best, but 90 percent of the staff work very hard to ensure you have a wonderful holiday. They are definitely worried about bad reviews or customer complaints as mentioned on a few occasions. Many were very sweet even though there was a language barrier. That was appreciated. There was one woman at the front desk that should not be working there. Wish I got her name because she should undergo a performance review. She looked like a Spanish lady and not native to DR. I had to visit the front desk four times in one day because my bracelet would not let me in the room. Long walk each time to the front desk with two small children, only to be motioned over to the reset monitor. I tried to ask nicely if there was something else that could be done since I had to keep walking up to get the bracelet fixed, but she literally motioned me off and walked away. Very rude and unprofessional especially since I was very polite. Excursions - Well organized and was the highlight of our trip. Beach - Obviously don't go in the summer. The beach is covered in seaweed. Cigarette butts everywhere. My kids even noticed that the beach was "dirty" which kids don't usually notice these things. Needless to say we didn't stay long and play. Food - We got home two days ago and my stomach is still upset. I started having diarrhea the second day I was there and it hasn't let up. I agree with other costumers, the food and health precautions are not up to par. No sanitizer at all and dirty prongs to transfer food. I would be switching those prongs every half hour given the amount of people using them and the food stuck on them. Obviously stay away from lettuce, fruits and veggies that are directly washed and served. Even though I did, I still got sick. Room - We had one cleaning lady that did such a great job of keeping the room clean, the other lady didn't refill the soap of toilet paper so you had to go and ask for these items. The tub wouldn't plug so no bath for the kids, but this was the least of our worries. The hotel literally smells of diarrhea Everyone is having it, using the pools and toilets and you can just smell it. You turn on the tap and a strange sewage smell hits you in the face. I literally could not eat anything the last 4 days we were there. Just nasty. Cockroaches - Yes, expect them. They are there. I have never stayed at a hotel where I've seen them and this grossed me out even further. If you can avoid this hotel, do it. Even more so, go to another country with higher health and safety standards for food. Countries I've visited and never had a problem are; Jamaica, St. Lucia and Barbados. It's your vacation, why chance getting sick.

Great experience for family
SERVICE AT ITS BEST Lobby Bar: Ask for Joaquin, Jose, and Melvin they will fix you THE BEST, and they make you feel truly welcomed At the buffet: Alex, Hendrickson and Wilson, those guys make you feel at home. If you want to do a private birthday/anniversary or any celebration ask for Cindy from the concierge, she is amazing. Overall, this hotel is family-oriented , every night there is a show for both kids and adults alike. The food is awesome, the dessert station is excellent, although there was no cheesecake. Check out the Bahia Village for shopping, it's great

Experience at Fantasia Resort, Bavaro Punta Cana
My recommendations include to ensure the rooms are well kept as it refers to maintenance. The first room we were assigned to had a broken shower and air conditioner wasn’t working properly. The second room they transferred us to the following day was leaking from the bathroom’s ceiling. The iron wasn’t working and some of the outlets were not working either. The lack of umbrellas in the main swimming pool area forced customers- me included to get up at 6:00 am daily to reserve some chairs and umbrella. To my surprise, when I came back from breakfast at around 10:00, the umbrella had been removed. I was very upset and reported the incident. I’m not sure if other customers were the ones who took it or if some employees would remove the umbrellas to give it to other guests. The same incident happened to my friend and I on an additional occasion. This is not my first time staying at Bahia Resorts, but rather my 5th one including Montego Bay in Jamaica, Tulum and Samanà. With this said, I had been able to make reservations to a la carte restaurant in advance, by emailing the resort a few weeks prior to my stay. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case with Fantasia. Besides my multiple attempts by emailing the staff, I never received an email back. Upon checking in, they informed me that not all a la carte restaurants were available as reservations were not available as it was the case with the Greek restaurant. They were able to accommodate me to go to some of them within the time I requested. Overall, I would not recommend Fantasia to others to visit.
