    Good but too many mosquitos

    Review 10 days,9 nights Travelled with kids (3&6), husband and parents Overall good trip, only thing that would stop me from retuning is the unmanaged mosquito situation which left everyone with huge red itchy spots all over their legs. CHECKIN/OUT was easy and quick. Note that the Bahia app DOES NOT WORK WHILE YOURE THERE! I had pre checked in and booked a lacartes but couldn’t see what I booked bc the app didn’t work. Had to log into the main web page to see it. GENERAL RESORT- beautiful landscaping and building views with the castles. It is a little confusing with the complex of multiple resorts next to each other but not a big deal. Trolleys are plentiful to take you where you need to go to get around. The staff is pleasant and helpful( with exception of our waiter at the Mexican restaurant) , however limited English. The tiles around the pool and waterpark are SUPER SLIPPERY be careful. They’re very blinding as well in the sun as they’re bright white. Kids club was fun and staff were great. Evening shows were great but ruined by the MOSQUITOS. They are a huge issue, never in 15+ times to DR in my lifetime, have I ever had such a problem with the mosquitos and noseeums at a resort . Completely covered in big welt bites. Saw them spraying on our 7th day there but didn’t seem all that effective. This is a reason I wouldn’t return. Everyone around the resort had huge bites on their legs. Vendors for photos and dolphins are kind of annoying but not all that pushy. WATERPARK/Pools- Fantasia has an excellent kids water park, always ample shade and chairs. Gentleman that goes around cleaning up is super kind and helpful. We went to the turquesa water park for an afternoon and it is a safety hazard, falling apart, missing tiles on the ground, large holes in the structure, areas taped off. But the kids enjoyed it nonetheless. Main castle pool was fun, the pool bar there was hard to get service at. We often costed the pool at the grand bc it was right by our hotel and had a kiddie pool section. ROOMS- we stayed in villa 98 which is one of the two ( other is 99) huge, long buildings in Fantasia. It was nice and close to the lobby and main pool, and close to a trolley stop for the beach or heading to other resorts in the complex. Family concierge always checking in. Room service was great. Rooms were clean and didn’t have any musty smell. We had a room with a king bed and sofa couch which was set up on arrival. Mattresses are hard and pillows are not very supportive but it’s not horrible. Air conditioning works well. Careful not to lock yourself out on the balcony as there’s no handle to get back inside and the doors are super heavy. Limited storage for a family of 4 for 10 days to put clothing but overall okay. There is a safe, tv, mini fridge, coffee maker. Bathroom provides shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion. Has a shower with hand held shower head and a jacuzzi tub, toilet in a stall and double sinks with ample counter space. Only one outlet in bathroom. Hair dryer provided and works well. Always hot water and good pressure. It was very noisy with guests in the hall way and we could hear music from the grand pool when kids were napping around 3pm. FOOD- good, always something to choose from at the buffet. We did see some cockroaches in the buffet near the food but it was one or 2 over the 10 days and it wasn’t directly on the food. A la cartes we did japense which was great, Mexican which was good for food but not great staff, Brazilian steak house has SO MUCH FOOD, Italian was delicious but smaller portions. Pizza by the splash park was great for the kids. Beach buffet was ok, limited but did its job. I did get an upset tummy despite taking dukoral and avoiding the tap water. SPA- Exfoliation, facial and massage was great. Book with Santa! BEACH- i was super disappointed the first day at the beach to see a MOUNTAIN of sea grass , as I expect a 5 star resort to be on top of cleaning this. Later in the week it was better but built up again. Water s a little rough but not bad. Always ample chairs when we went to the beach. Vendors are annoying but not too pushy.

    Good Family Resort

    Who we are: • We were a family group of 10 (4 kids, 2 grandparents and 4 adults). • Our kids were ages 3, 6, 10 and 14. • We originally were booked for the Grand Punta Cana but decided to upgrade to Fantasia shortly after arrival. Pros: • Staff here are friendly and interact with the children, which makes this feel like a very family-oriented resort. • The hotel lobby, grounds and restaurants are all clean. The rooms as well, however, need a bit of updating as the AC and fridge seem to be hit or miss. • The pools were spacious and lots of entertainment was going on every day. • The kids water park was super as well – lots for kids to do with a convenient snack bar located there as well. • The theatre shows and kids loft was all great as well, our kids enjoyed the shows and the use of the games. Cons: • Grand Punta Cana: We spent 2 days at the Grand Punta Cana and would say that this resort is very outdated. Their staff was not friendly, and this difference was noticed right away when we moved to Fantasia. Mosquitos seem to be much worse over at the Punta Cana side as well. • Fantasia: Rooms need some updating. Fridges and TVs don’t work as expected. Air conditioning was an issue as well for us as our first room was very warm at night compared to the other two rooms in our group. Special Recognition: • Andres from the front lobby desk was the only one who helped us get into a new room with better air conditioning. We were told to leave our phone number and they would call us, which never happened. Andres walked us to the rooms personally to make sure we were satisfied before switching and he was very quick to help us right away. This is the level of customer service a 5-star resort should provide. He was very attentive and empathetic to our situation as our 3-year-old son could not sleep in the hot room and we were worried his crying would keep up the guests in the other rooms. • Genesis and Darianny at the pool were also very wonderful. They were friendly, quick and a pleasure to be with for our stay throughout the resort. They always made sure to find our group’s order so we could enjoy our pool time. They even made sure to bring out ice in a tray so our drinks could be cool in the hot sun, which was very creative and much appreciated. It made our experience a great one.

    Beautiful resort

    Such a beautiful resort! The staff are very friendly and it was pristine. A hugh shout out to the staff at the pool bar especially Dannianny who took great care and by far exceeded our expectations! Also Rosuary and Julissa were very helpful at the desk for all our needs. Great time and a wonderful vacation!

    Maria from the buffet & beach bar was awesome. Her energy & personality made our stay even better. Osarry (can't remember how to spell her name), Carolina, Daniel & Carlos from the beach bar were great too. A great place for families.

    We were excited to stay here after seeing good reviews. We have stayed at quite a few all-inclusive resorts and this was bar far the worst. The room was very outdated. We had a few cockroaches in our room and the concierge didn’t seem to care. The dead bolt lock on the door was broken- we complained and they called at 9pm to fix it (we have a 2 year old and we were all in bed), I told them to come tomorrow and they never came. When we tried to shower it was either all scalding hot water or all cold water, so we had to shower in the bathtub. The buffet food was terrible. The only good food we had was the last night at the Mexican restaurant. Another big complaint is the tile around the pools. Yes, it looks nice, but it is extremely slippery. I almost fell multiple times, my clod slipped a few times, and I saw others fall. It is not safe to have around a pool that’s always going to be wet. Also, the drinks were not impressive- small, they used artificial syrups for a lot of things, and the frozen drink machines never came out slushy. The only saving grace to this place was the kid area- my daughter loved the slides. Thats the only good thing I have to say about this place, and the only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1.
