Not exactly a dream wedding experience!
I got married at the Azul in December 2024 after visiting earlier in the year to scope the place out. Unfortunately, it felt like a lot had gone downhill at the resort since our first visit. We had a small group with us (with an age range between 6 and 70 years old) for our wedding and our bad experience started with a super chaotic check-in. Although we knew our rooms wouldn’t be ready yet, as we were checking in early, there was very little communication about when our rooms would be available and where those room would actually be. We had to return to the front desk multiple times during the day to check on the status of our rooms and were left to lug our carry on luggage around the resort. Despite being a small group, we’d booked the most expensive wedding package, and had been hoping for a more comfortable experience. The poor check-in sadly started our trip on the wrong foot. Other things went wrong during the week (no sheets on the pull out bed for the kids that took an age to arrive once they were requested; many drink ingredients missing; rooms that needed changing because of noise; pools that didn’t seem like they were cleaned regularly; etc.) but these are all things that happen on vacation and we dealt with them as they came. However, my primary issue was that I felt like the wedding team didn’t really take care of us. There was a bigger wedding group at the resort at the same time as us and it definitely seemed like they were the priority. At our rehearsal dinner, the menus were different from what I had decided on — and clarified at least once — with the wedding team, dietary restrictions that we had also discussed multiple times were not taken into account, and dishes came out at such different times that some people had finished their main courses before others had been able to start. Similarly, at our ceremony and reception, the cocktails and mocktails we’d requested weren’t present. As I mentioned, these were details that we’d discussed multiple times with the wedding team and I have no idea why they weren’t followed through on. On the way to the ceremony I realized I’d forgotten to bring my bouquet with me (getting married is a bit stressful, I guess!) and the wedding coordinator seemed to expect my 70 year old mother or I would run back to the bridal suite to collect it — very bizarre! I will say that our reception dinner on the beach was truly lovely and the waitstaff team took really good care of us. The food was also much tastier than the other meals we’d had on the resort. Overall, on my wedding day, we enjoyed our time as a family, but there were many details that were overlooked by the Azul wedding team. When we asked for help with these issues, often no help was given and we just had to move on. Many of our requests seemed pretty simple and it was super frustrating to be faced with no solutions and a general lack of interest in finding a possible solution. All that being said, the best part of this resort is the beach, and you are beachfront 90% of the time. I would lower expectations around the level of customer service at the resort, however. This is such a great location and it’s really a shame that this resort has so many issues. If you’re reading this review looking to book your wedding, I would look elsewhere! We specifically wanted to get married in Negril, but I wish we’d chosen another resort. Our wedding was absolutely not a stress-free experience and I don’t feel that we got value for our money. We enjoyed ourselves despite the issues but I had been hoping our day (and the trip as a whole) would go a lot smoother.

A 3 1/2 star hotel, with loads of potential
We are here now for 10 days, with friends and I have to say the food is amazing and the staff are all very fantastic, the beach and ocean are beautiful...too bad there are a lack of chairs and umbrellas on the beach....except of course for prestige members. So we have to go down to the beach every morning at 5am to get chairs as they are taken by 7. We did book premium, that gave us a very nice room in building eleven, and our very nice concierge, Kevon. The whole resort needs some tlc. The deck boards are patched together, uneven, and someplace missing. The pool drinks are quite often missing ingredients and are made with cheap booze and syrup. However, the staff are really friendly and do their best. Thanks, Camille and our beach waiter, Dave. Always smiling. For all the negatives, we are having a fantastic time and are eating very well. Shout out to Sade at the Mahogany bar, Xavier, Marion, and of course Poochie at the coffee place...o and Anna Kay at the Oceans. Also, the entertainment staff are always smiling, high energy. Amazing service by amazing people. One Love

Will not return
Absolutely love the beach location and the staff – they’ve been fantastic throughout our stay! However, I’ve never been to a resort before where finding a chair was such a struggle. There were no chairs available, and there was a severe lack of shade umbrellas. The Prestige section had plenty of chairs and umbrellas, but that’s only if you paid extra. We paid a premium price, but it felt like we got nothing in return. We ended up having to lie on the ground! The entire section only had about 2 and a half umbrellas, and there were zero chairs around the pools. Now, let’s talk about the alcohol. Our booking promised premium drinks, but that turned out to be a joke. There was no mint for mojitos, and the alcohol served was the lowest-end options available. The only saving grace has been the incredible staff, who have made the vacation worthwhile.

10/10 Wedding & Vacation experience
We went to Azul for our wedding celebration with around 35 other people. The wedding planning process was so unbelievably easy! Carla and Jenevieve were beyond helpful and so professional! Kev our photographer was quick and photos turned out great from what we saw. Please please please go to the Vassa spa and get a massage with Veronica or Valerie they are the best. The food was delicious, activities were always fun. Definitely recommend taking a trip on a Catamaran!! If you’re looking for an all around great resort, Azul is the place to go! Right on the beautiful seven mile beach, couldn’t have asked for a better time! Wish we didn’t have to leave!
