Over priced and poorly managed hotel the premium travellers need to AVOID.
Overpriced, terrible experience, Concerning location and poorly staffed. Save your $500 per night for something better. Getting to the hotel door can be an experience with homeless and other such folks hanging around the door and the car parking. The service level is bare for a $500 hotel. The roof top does not open on proper time. The restaurant service is minimal. For a morning meeting that started at 630 there was no coffee or any such service. Room service and turndown is absent. In room replenishment if amenities is marginal.

A cautionary tale
We were expecting a Hyatt. This did not feel like a Hyatt. It felt more like a two star hotel on opening week. The staff tried hard to please. They were nice people but they were unable to make up for the deficiencies of this hotel. Let's start with parking. Yes, they have parking but we were advised by staff NOT to use it because it was not safe. Caras had been stolen. Instead we parked our car in a lot a block away. When we checked in we were informed of a "happy hour" taking place in the lobby but we never found it. Our room had a beautiful view; some might find it a bit exposed, but I liked it. However, the air conditioning did not work. A generous closet was a nice feature in the hotel room but unfortunately the light was out. The bathroom was quite nice. The location, a brisk walk from Parliament, was good. Night fell and we learned why ear plugs had been placed by our bedside. A lot of loud partying takes place at this hotel, not just in the bar upstairs but in the room next to ours where men were knocking on the door and entering to frolic with multiple hysterically laughing women through the wee hours of the morning. These days most upscale hotels offer some form of complimentary breakfast. Not this hotel. It was all a la carte. We made our excuses about the need to leave a day early. The staff at reception were very understanding and assured us it would not be a problem. When we returned home, we discovered that we had been charged for both nights, even though we only stayed one.

Great stay
Great stay. The room was clean and had a great view of the Byward Market. The front desk was courteous and efficient. The free wine during happy hour was a nice touch. I took advantage of self check in and check out procedures.

Good Stay
Good hotel located on the edge of Byward Market - which has lots of interesting restaurants and bars. Its also walking distance to Parliament square and downtown Ottawa. Well appointed rooms, easy check-in and a lovely roof top bar which looks out onto all of the Ottawa landmarks.

Where was the hotel management?
Things didn’t get off to a good start when we arrived after a long car journey from Niagara on the Lake, only to find there was no parking available and were told to find our own somewhere. I understand the nearby private parking behind the hotel is very expensive, so maybe we got lucky. Reception staff did not assist my wife with the bags ( as I had to wait in the car in a busy location) and got the feeling it’s definitely wasn’t their problem! Admittedly the King sized room is well appointed with a good shower, however it overlooks a building site. Luckily we are staying at the weekend so no need for the supplied ear plugs! One of the three lifts wasn’t working and there a queue to access. As for getting one from the fourth floor to the lobby was a five minute wait. Ice machines only on 3rd, 6th &9th floors, with the 3rd floor out of action! Morning breakfast service was poor with only two staff on duty. When we came back from our exploration of the city, our room had not been serviced. We were told that housekeeping was under pressure due to the number of late checkouts, probably due to the Ottawa race weekend. Hotel gets 2 for the room!
