Chihuahua
Despite being mainly an industrial city, Chihuahua, Mexico is home to several sites of interest to tourists. Many colonial-era buildings remain in the town’s historic center, including the baroque Metropolitan Cathedral. Older residential areas are home to nineteenth-century Gothic-style mansions built when silver brought wealth to the region. Also of note are the city’s murals, particularly ones in the Government Palace and the University auditorium. The northern Mexico region is known for its hot desert landscapes and the Sierra Tarahumara Mountains, which provide opportunities for mountain biking and rock climbing. Chihuahua is also the center of vaquero country, making it one of the best places in the country to buy cowboy boots.
