    Never staying here again!!!

I wholly NEVER EVER stay at this place again. The elevator system in the Rainbow tower is the stupidest idea in the history of the world. Absolutely infuriating. Additionally as Diamond member, I had to figure out myself how to get my whopping 2 bothers of 12 oz water, not per day, per stay!! What in the world is this cheap amenity. At least give refillable water bottles or something. Food was meh on top of that. My god it was an absolute mistake staying here.

    Nice hotel but extremely crowded

Nice hotel with lots of things to do on site. Very crowded! No where to sit at pools and one pool was completely closed. Easy access to shopping and restaurants. Can’t check in till after 12pm but able to store luggage at bell desk. Rooms were spacious and clean.

Always a great meal and service.

We love dining at Bali Steak and Seafood restaurant located in the Rainbow Tower at the Village. The menu has a nice variety of options and our meals have always been prepared perfectly and presented very nicely. Service is very good and from well trained staff who know their menu. We enjoy a Friday evening meal sitting outside at the restaurant. For our trip in May I began reservations at the restaurant in January. When we checked in for dinner my requests were immediately pulled up on the computer, but a glitch had occurred and a table at our requested location was not available. NO PROBLEM. The Supervisor immediately began to find a remedy and actually set up an additional table for us with perfect view of the fireworks show. That was outstanding service and is greatly appreciated.

Still a favorite after 4 decades

My first trip to HHV was 40 years ago and I’ve been visiting regularly since then. In this review I want to share some thoughts about dining at HHV and in the area. That said - it’s important that you, know that HHV has changed over the years from a prized luxury destination that hosted Elvis and many other famous people and it’s now a factory. A nice factory - but a factory. It could not in this condition claim a Conrad or Waldorf flag. But, the beach is great and the people are nice. Breakfast - my choice is Tropics in the Ali’i tower. Loco Moco or pineapple oatmeal (yes, I know, night & day different). Lappert’s is also good for coffee & a croissant. Pity that Rainbow Lanai is closed. That was a treasure. Now it’s just a sad empty space. There is also a good coffee shop in the lobby in a space that sat vacant for years. Lunch - Tropics if you want western food. I prefer Hatsuhana in the shopping arcade. We have a home in Tokyo and this food meets the test. Try the Ahi Katsu. If you;re up for a walk go tomorrow Nakamura Ramen (really excellent) or Tsuro Ton Tan at Royal Hawaiian shopping center for udon or soba Dinner - you can go to the Tapa Bar for a burger and a bucket of brews but you have to fight a growing crop of aggressive, hungry pigeons. I pass on that. You can also eat at Tropics but go early because the food gets more dry as the night goes on. Hatsuhana is always good. The pizza place is acceptable; not Lou Malnati’s but tasty and a fair value. Last time I went to Aoki I was so disappointed with the service and the food I vowed never to return. I haven’t. If you want good teppanyaki or Shabu Shabu go to Suntory at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. And it you just want affordable hot pot go to Ichiriki. Bali restaurant has good steaks but I prefer Hy’s (my #1 but please respect their dress code - it’s a classic Rat Pack kinda place) or Morton’s at Ala Moana (also very classy with the most friendly people you’ll find anywhere). For Italian there is Fresco but I prefer Il Lupino or Taormina. The latter has better food but if you sit outside you’re sitting next to the exit from a parking garage. Sit inside and you’ll love it. Drinks - for sure go to Tropics and have a Kauai Tai. Not a Mai Tai. No. A Kauai Tai. Trust me on that and have 2 or 3. You’re not driving. Ice Cream - Lapperts’. A classics. Go mid afternoon. After dinner till closing is a mad house with long lines and no place to park yourself. HHV used to the place to go for fine dining. Rainbow Tower had an elegant Chinese restaurant that rivaled anyplace I went when I lived in PRC/HK/Singapore. No more. I guess ‘factory’ and ‘fine dining’ don’t go together. But … I still go back and enjoy HHV. I’ve aged over 40 years and so has the property. I wish though that we could both be rejuvenated. Go with the proper level of expectation and you’ll enjoy. Anyway, there’s really no exceptional beachfront property on Waikiki these days. And, finally … get the Hilton App and a Hilton Honors membership (it’s free). With that you can check-in online, get a Digital Key your room, and skip the lobby afternoon madhouse. You’ll have to make a trip to the front desk later (after the rush) to get your pool towel cards. You can call Guest Services to get the internet password. And, you can also checkout with the App. You’ll so regret it if you skip this step. The afternoon check-in lines are long and it’s such a delight to breeze past and go directly to your room (which you can also choose on the App when you check-in)

    Just excellent.

Just amazing venue. Loved my surprise getaway from the husband as a late honeymoon. The room was lovely, clean and spacious, all the workers there were so gracious, kind and attentive. Trying to bribe the husband to take me back already as I just miss being there and my tan is fading quick that’s British weather for you.
