    Absolutely Stunning!

Wow! The stay was truly amazing!! It was everything my wife could imagine for her birthday. All inclusive resort, adult only, private, high security. Top notch. Our bell man Victor was theeeeee absolute best. He made the experience that much better.

    Save your money

We stayed in 3413 and our phone didn’t work. I had to use my cell phone and call to order room service because either the internet was not working or our order would never show up. I contacted the front desk on numerous occasions and they said they would send someone to our room three different times to see about the phone and curtains but never did. One side of the curtains would not close so we were woken up every morning by bright light. The mixed drinks were terrible, none of the bartenders made good drinks except for one young lady in the piano bar. Unfortunately she was only there one evening so we had to just suffer and drink the trash they served. We were also on our honeymoon and they ensured they would do something sweet and special for us…. and of course they did not. The only good thing about this resort is how beautiful the landscape is, other than that save your time and money. I contacted Resident Manager Mr. Victor Cruz before leaving a bad review and only received an apology, no regards to fixing the issue. We will NEVER stay at this facility again nor will I recommend anyone go. I’d rather pay half the price and receive way more in Mexico or Jamaica like we previously have.

    Unhappy Employees

None of the employees at this resort appear to be happy. Interaction with them is awkward at best, and sometimes even confrontational. An example is the "privileged" package, which we purchased. The hotel put us in a regular room and tried to pass is off as privileged. It was not, and it was a fight to get what we paid for. Mind you, other than a room in a certain building, "privileged" does not get really get you anything extra. We were surprised to see that the minibar in the room was stocked with two tiny cans of Presidente beer and some soft drinks. No wine, no spirits. Oh well, there were always drinks from the bar, but the standard wine was pretty cheap and bland. The food was pretty mediocre. Life is too short to eat bad pizza, but the Italian restaurant serves just that. Sawichi is pretty good, and Tao Cat is excellent, but we found ourselves going to the buffet more that we though we would. Too bad. The grounds were perfectly maintained and are quite nice. The beach is a bit of a pass due to seaweed. To their credit, the resort tries to stay on top of it, but it's getting pretty bad. There are two pools - the one closest to the beach is the quietest. The once closest to the main building was pretty rowdy. Anyway, a pretty average experience. We had to cancel a trip in February, and this was our best replacement. We made the best of it, but for the money, you can probably do much better.

    Lovely Hotel badly needs refurbishment

The hotel is very low-key and ideal for a peaceful and relaxing holiday, which suits us perfectly. Room, We had a top floor room in block 44, it does need refurbishing, the lighting was poor and the shower was probably the worst I've seen, it's was at times a trickle with no water pressure and often took ages to get hot. Their was a 4 poster bed, which I don't see why they don't just put a normal bed in. There's a fridge that is topped up daily with water, beer, and soft drinks. Coffee making machine but no kettle for boiling water for tea. We also had to ask for our complimentary slipper and dressing gown as they weren't in the room when we arrived. Also, I had to ask for extras coat hangers, they had 9 in the wardrobe. There are lots of minor issues that you don't expect from a 5-star hotel. I know their 5 star is at best our 4 star. Entertainment: Low key but with some very good acts which only lasted from 8pm to 9.30pm. Nothing during the day except pool aerobics Restaurants: All were good for food and drink, and the service was somewhat hit and miss at times. My favourite was the Italian. Didn't try the sister hotel next door al la carte Restaurants as you had to book separately and when they were available it was 9.30pm which is too late for us. Booking the Royal Hotel al la carte Restaurants was very easy to book online in advance. Garden: Well looked after with palm trees and plants, and the gardeners work hard to maintain. Lovely little messages and quiet areas. Beach: Unfortunately, there is heavy seaweed washed up daily on the beach despite the hard work the hotel does to clear. There were always plenty of sun lounges available, but around the pools, clients must be up at 5am to put their towels down. We've been to the Dominican Republic 3 times, and this beach is by far the worst and not what we thought would be, too shallow for good swimming. Several beach sellers would walk up and down but a firm no, and they move on. There were no local vendors stalls any time on the hotel complex whilst we were there, which was good as many hotels in the Dominican Republic do have these vendors evenings, and the sellers really hound you to buy some overpriced items. The family hotel next door did have them on Friday evenings.

    Never again.

While the resort was beautiful and spotless, the staff were not friendly and some were downright hostile. Also, rooms did not have enough outlets and none near the bed. DO NOT drink the smoothies at the beach, I got a very bad case of giardiasis (I had one and my husband didn't. I got sick, he didn't.)
