    Disappointed. Charging card without authorization

We are on our 3rd night Trying to have a great vacation despite Hilton charging amounts toy card that I did not authorize or make purchases for. 2500 for my hotel, yet the hotel was prepaid. 1400 for parking. Yet we have no car and again, only on 3rd night so how does one get a 1400 parking charge. Double charged for resort fee. These charges showed up shortly after checking in. Guy at desk states has no clue. Talked to manager in morning. Said they would fix and the pending authorizations should drop off. They did not. Some charges have now actually gone from pending to posted. The hotel is nice and our room wonderful but all these charges adding up to 1000s of dollars at beginning of vacation is horrible and disappointing. We went to talk to manager again after charge posted. Said would talk to finance and call us. Going on forth day and nothing fixed yet.

    Hilton - Living in 1995

First, the service/staff get 5 stars. From check-in, concierge guys, bellmen, pool people, engineering, housekeeping, etc. were all very nice, professional, and helpful with positive attitudes and smile. If not for them, would have given 1-2 stars. Everyone I talked to and encountered was great and I'm appreciative of all of them. Second - Hilton needs to stop being so cheap and drag themselves into the 21st. century. The wi-fi is spotty and I had to continually log into multiple times during the day. Second, with all the streaming and other technology available, Hilton still is trying to push DVD rentals, standard tv and landline phone calls. It is ridiculous that they do not offer any way to connect or cast streaming apps to the tvs. I asked before check in, at check in and was told that Hilton does have connection for streaming. Finally talked to a nice lady, Katie, in Engineering, who explained that Hilton as a company, doesn't offer this. Every Marriott brand has been offering for several years as do Omni. Not Hilton - they even are still pushing calling card calls (for the young ones, long distance carriers used to offer a calling card where you punching in a string of numbers to make a long distance call) and long distance, which I'm sure they are charging $1-2 per minute as this used to be revenue generating in the 1990's. Apparently Hilton hasn't gotten the memo that people primarily use mobile phones now, although they keep trying to text and push their app. In another throwback to the 1990's, the rooms all have DVD players and you can go to kiosks to rent DVD's. How very Blockbuster of them. As I was there for work, it was frustrating to constantly be thrown off the WiFi - if they want to be a conference hotel, this needs to improve. Had a good laugh about the DVD's and Long Distance landline but not cool retro, just out of touch on Hilton's part. Third - while I was there for a conference, it's not a conference hotel. It is primarily a family vacation resort. If you have kids, it's probably great as there are lots of pools and activities and most of the food is kid-friendly. As other reviews have stated, it is noisy and stays that way until about 10 pm. Also, if you are in a room that connects to another room, be prepared to hear your neighbors. The bed was pretty comfortable and room was clean so that is a plus. The food choices here are not great. All the Hilton restaurants are pretty basic and expensive for mediocre food. Same for the bars - it's all Island Oasis and sour mix drinks - all hfcs and overly sweet. However there are plenty of other options nearby. One caution is the CJ Deli, that is on property but not Hilton was absolutely disgusting. Ordered a burger and it was mostly raw and think meat had gone bad. Avoid this place unless you want food poisoning. Overall, not a place where I would willingly return except for the staff. Can't say enough good things about them.

    Way over rated

I called a couple days before I was planning to stay in Waikiki. Was told that it was the only hotel on the beach, not true. I also wasn't told that there was fifty other pieces of property crammed right on top of this one And anytime you go out to the beach. You might as well be taking a 1000 of the closest friends. last if you want to eat food at a reasonable price. Go way off property because the food is extremely expensive at this location. It is not Hilton quality hotel for sure. $37 for a cheeseburger, fries and drink. $25 for the same food at Hard Rock Cafe. 4/10 of a mile away

    Bigger isn't always better

I last stayed at this hotel 48 years ago, when I was a child, and it consisted of just the one (Rainbow) tower. So, almost half a century later, I decided to return so that my family could experience the 'Village' which this once basic but beautiful hotel had become. I wish I hadn't. We paid $U.S 2,374.65 - that's approx $4000 Australia dollars - for 4 nights in one room (Oceanfront 2 Dbl Beds) in the Ali'i Tower. We were on the '3rd Floor' - what one would call the 2nd, in Australia - overlooking the pool, and with pigeons nesting on the outside ledges and often entering our rooms The furnishings were tired and worn. The room really needed more waste baskets and better quality toilet paper. (That said, the 'smart toilet' gave unexpected surprises!). Worst of all, the mother and son team in charge of the Ali'i's 'exclusive' pool were rude and abusive and really upset my teenage daughter. (Thankfully, when I raised this very disappointing situation with a young man on reception named AJ waived the $88 fee we'd paid in order to check in to our room at 1pm and not 4pm. Woo hoo!). If you do stay here - and I'd advise against it - be warned that the food within the Village is very expensive. My family decided to avoid it and instead dined at nearby locations like Red Lobster and iHop, and fine restaurants not too far away like Mud Hen Water, and Senia. The one time we bought something to eat within the village it was a medium size Blizzard from the Dairy Queen. Including the minimum requested tip, that cost $US12/$AUS18! Yep, for some soft serve ice cream. After my family's experience at Hilton Hawaiian Village, we -who are also lifetime Hilton Honors members - really need a decent holiday. Thankfully, we've just arrived at the Wayside Waikiki: a lovely boutique hotel where I suspect we won't be abused or ripped off. Let's just put it this way: this place ain't what it used to be. That is: pleasant, classy, friendly, and good value.

    Scammed over $1000.

We have supported this property for years, but it has really declined since the pandemic. We called and made a reservation for the family. We were told we had a room to accommodate all. When we arrived, we were told it would be another $95-$125 per night for a rollaway or room big enough to accommodate all. It is completely deceptive and a scam. Our $1400 room turned into a $2500 scam after all the additional costs that they were not transparent about. We will not be supporting the Hilton Hawaiian Village any longer. The GM will reply and say that they are sorry and that they are customer focused, but will not correct anything. We will not be supporting or recommending this hotel to anyone again.
