    Seen, Saw Jamaica Momcation

Came to Jamaica for the first time. This is a party resort and thank goodness for the 5 different pool areas. Food was good except for breakfast was a hit or miss and the Italian restaurant was horrible. Reservations are hard to come by. Check in was not the best. Customer service was ok. I gave it 3 stars for the reasons above, the pools close at 6pm and the beach was not good.

Attended for a friends wedding & Our Honeymoon

Wedding: i will start with this as this is what i came for. My friends wedding was gorgeous and the location itself in the corner of the beach was lovely and mostly secluded. Im suprised i didnt see more weddings at that spot rather than the overlooked west beach gazebo or the one near the exedous bar which is in direct sun.The wedding reception in the steakhouse was lovely although seating area was a little cramped but dance floor with open air was great and lively. DJ was good and tunes played all night long. The views over the complex were to die for....lovely wedding and very glad to be there Hotel: Defo not a 5 star...basics like no kettle in the room to make tea, no wifi in even reception unless you pay, No bathrobes and slippers and mainly NO ROOM SERVICE??? We are generally a well travelled family and consider these things to be basics for 5 star hotels. We Had to change room as no honeymoon room available for 2 days. The toilet did not work anyway so was very glad to move room. New room had lovely ocean view and was much bigger although still not 5 star standard. Well stocked optics style mini bar in each room but had to keep remi ding to restock the fridge. Toilet was much better but was a common complaint throughout our wider group of around 50 people. 7 mins from airport the entrance lect a lot to be desired for as it was off a road with sellers and taxi men outside although harmless it is a little overwhelming. Clean rooms but a little musty smelling at times. EXCELLENT on-site gift shop. OVERALL: No real sence of the luxury we are used to at 5 star resorts abroad. Food: Foid on the resort was superb and rose hall offers all the jamaican classics we eat as a family. Lots of choice and well cooked and lovely staff. Only 3 restauraunts on the resort which again 5 star usually has more of and 2 were buffett style . although nice part of the luxury experience is being served a few times especially if a certain attire is required. Japanesse was lovely. Try the tempura prawns....lol. Overall the food on resort is great and the beach jerk hut is good too. Drinks are plentiful and not watered down. From the beach sometimes bars can be far and again unlike most 5 stars, staff do not bring drinks to the beach. Entertainment: Was great alrhough most i didnt watch but listened too as most were musical from the bar, beach or my balcony. Loved tge daily reggae music which was quality tunes. The morning beach show with dollar sign, cupcake, sunshine and co was the best start to my day...excellent beach games, quizzes and fun daily. Lots for kids and seprate small kids area which was cute and a nightclub which was good for all which was said to be very good. Honeymoon: A little dissapointed no room was available and when it was it was simply ocean view with no special touches such as champagne ir fruit which i am aware only sone of the guests of the wedding got in their rooms the night of the wedding we attended and we were not one .???? i produced my marriage certificate and we got nothing throughout which did not make us feel special. I was here primarily for a wedding and gave up my planned honeymoon destination to be here for my friend so i wasnt overly bothered, however if i had chosen Riu as my actual honeymoon preference i would have been very annoyed considering what the hotel i just got married at in Dominican Republic offers to honeymooners and those on anniversary????? Not impressed Riu. In DR my same friend got room banners, balloons etc simply for her birthday at our destination wedding. This isnt really good enough Riu as i have checked other hotels in JA that offer a lot more for honeymoon couples. We did a day trip to Negril and it was clear the luxury we were seeking was right there. Breathtaking beaches for 7 straight miles, food, nightlife, atmosphere, horseriding, lobster in abundance, markets, locals, ricks cafe and many many attractions. We will visit Jamaica again as it the most amazing, warm and welcoming place but dont mind spending that bit more for the best of everything..... Beach in the hotel is very small although nice and it is restricted at both ends so long walks are not possible. No wooden beach beds, cabins, or luxury type beach options and 1 towel hut near the 1 pool. Lovely place that tries very hard just simply not 5 star as advertised STAFF: Speacial mention to Leon on reception and Nakesha in Rose Hall. Both amazing and extremley helpful We also visited friends and family in other parts of montego bay which was a wonderful experience too. Finally.....if you stay at riu reggae or riu palace you can enter the riu mo bay but not the other way round although both are for adults only.

Awesome time at Riu Montego Bay

I had a fantastic time at Riu Montego Bay, the resort was beautiful, the food and drinks were great as well. I wish they'd play more reggae music verses the american music, I can hear american artist everyday here but I wanted to hear more reggae music and dance hall music. I would visit again!!
