Temezcal best part of trip
The best part of this trip was the spiritual cleansing given at the temazcal that they don’t even mention on the website. The shaman was amazing as she guided us through the ceremony in the sweat igloo. A truly amazing experience. The rest of the resort is beautiful but food is a bit lacking. Staff was friendly & attentive.
This experience was easily a 0 out of 5. Unattenative staff, a lack of appreciation for customer service, and a complete disregard for how to run a business. Not only did we get stranded with the front desk refusing to call a car, we were also dismissed by preferred club staff and then not contacted by management. We will spend our thousands elsewhere and suggest you do the same at a beach that at least can manage their sargassum. 0 out of 5.
Almost there on almost everything
For the price, I would have expected the food and the overall service to have been better. The French and Italian restaurants severely lacked in options and flavor. There is a wine bar but you have to pay extra, which is silly for all inclusive and how much you are already paying. You could at least offer tastings or glasses, rather than mandating you pay for a whole bottle. We had a bride with us that recently had surgery and needed to stay off of her leg as much as possible in the days leading up to the wedding and the resort did not make any accommodations for this in advance, even though they knew. We would often wait 20+ minutes for a golf cart escort and the room was not a short distance away from the bars and restaurants, which is where everything was happening most days. Our room had an empty beer can in the bathroom and trash on the floor by the bed when we checked in. And then the room they moved us to a few days later had a leak from the ceiling and the AC never worked properly, despite service request. Overall, it is a beautiful location and we had a great time with friends for the wedding, but the resort itself was just okay for me for the money. We paid extra for the swim out pool but the pool was so cold we could never go in.
Great Time Had By All
I only write reviews when I feel good about a place and this review might get a bit long because there was so much we liked. Our trip included 3 generations of our family and everyone had a great time. Dreams Tulum manages to walk the line between having lots of energy but also being relaxing - note that there was always music playing (often live) but it never interfered with getting a good night's sleep. The food was good and the specialty restaurants were mostly a step above - one of our grandkids is a picky eater and we didn't have any problems. One interesting aspect is that tips are included in the all-inclusive fees so we could just enjoy everything without worrying about carrying cash (though we did leave a few tips along the way). The kids activities (Explorer's Club) were excellent and the team of Mariela, Yesica, Vanessa, and Patricia worked hard to keep things fun and safe (and bilingual). One unexpected excellent aspect of our stay was the free tennis lessons given by Horatio who looks after the gym and tennis court - he was formerly a high level tennis player and he apparently coaches kids in his spare time. He helped everyone in our group (and some others) improve their game, irrespective of the level they were at. One other thing we took advantage of was the team of photographers who roam the resort. They captured a lot of the spontaneous moments but they also gave us a free 30 minute photo session where we were taken around the resort to the best locations for family portraits - the results were good enough that we bought one of their mid level packages. The only down side I can think of is that swimming in the ocean is not as pleasant as we had hoped due to rocky and uneven bottom.
Not a 5 star hotel
Food was not good and almost not edible. Rooms were dirty and very out of date. Property not that clean. We had a lot of issues with dinning times at the restaurants and the buffet making some guests sick.
