We had an incredible stay at Dreams Onyx in Punta Cana as a family of four! The resort was beautiful, the food was consistently delicious, and there was no shortage of fun for all ages. One of the best parts of our trip was hanging out at the Splash Park Bar, where Anthony, our bartender, truly went above and beyond. He was friendly, engaging, and made every visit feel special. Thanks to the amazing staff and family-friendly atmosphere, this was a vacation to remember. Highly recommend!

Jun 19, 2025Great property, pretty decent service but could tighten up on their service to make it better
Overall we had a blast. A few highlights- this resort gives a luxury feel without luxury service. Some of the service was AMAZING and above and beyond (Sterling, the cocktail server at the Preferred Beach area) and our housekeeping and minibar team, but some service was non existent (like at the swim up bar at the Waterpark Pool- absolutely horrendous bartenders, rude condescending, etc). I literally stayed away from them at all costs. Lastly, the waterpark is cool but your child needs to be at least 4 feet, 6 inches to use all the slides, there is also a disclaimer that they need to be 9, but i didn't see anyone checking kids ID's so as long as you are tall enough it should be ok. There is 1 slide (of 4 total) that they will allow you to go on if you are under 4 feet, 6 inches- my kid is 46 inches and she was allowed on the easy slide all but one day when a rude lifeguard let her go on twice "as a trial" but them no more after that. My daughter does competitive swim and is an excellent swimmer so it wasn't for any reason other than he was in a crabby mood or looking for a tip.

A must visit while in D.R.
This place was amazing and far exceeded our expectations. The Dreams side has family events and then you have access to the sister resort Breathless when you want to have adult time. It's a 2 for 1.

Come and experience with your family!
The moment you step in the resort you’ll be relaxed and smells like a spa! Truly a wonderful resort for me! Love there’s a lot of pool options when the weather didn’t cooperates. Staffs are approachable and nice. Overall cleanliness is awesome! No mosquito bites for the kids. Love the landscaping and the plants! Very pretty! Thank you!

Great Value, Nice Resort, Couple Drawbacks
Dreams Onyx offers a mix of highs and lows that make it a decent choice for families, though not without its drawbacks. First, the customer service stands out in a positive way—staff are friendly, attentive, and generally eager to help. This level of service goes a long way in making your stay comfortable. The rooms are modern and clean, with upscale touches, but the layout can be a bit puzzling. Some design choices feel counterintuitive, which may cause minor inconveniences, though not deal-breakers. When it comes to food and drinks, experiences can be hit-or-miss. There are some solid options, but consistency is lacking, and many of the cocktails don’t quite live up to expectations. One major downside is the beach. The seaweed situation is overwhelming, and although the resort clearly tries its best to manage it, the volume is simply too great to overcome. Unfortunately, this makes the beach largely unusable for swimming or lounging. On a brighter note, the pools and kid-friendly amenities are excellent. Families will appreciate the multiple pools, water slides, and a range of fun features like a game room, bowling alley, and bumper cars—all of which help make up for the beach disappointment. In summary, Dreams Onyx is a solid pick for families prioritizing poolside fun and activities over beach time, with great service and kid-focused amenities helping balance out some of the weaker areas.
