    We had a great time

Overall we had a great time at this hotel, prior to coming and reading some of the reviews we were apprehensive and worried but some for us it was a great 10 days. Check-in We had no problems with checking in on the app and booking some of the restaurants. I actually found the app easy to navigate and find suitable opportunities to book the restaurants and when necessary cancel reservations. Out of all the restaurants we found the Brazilian the best and the Mexican the worse (only because you can get the same food in the buffet). Restaurants The buffet restaurant was great for breakfast and dinner. The omelet station was a firm favorite and when requested you can order just egg whites. We generally had lunch at the poolside snack bar which again was tasty and plenty to go at. You can not struggle at this resort to find something to satisfy any tastes there are so many options and an abundance of choice. Pools we mainly stayed near the main pool, which was great for atmosphere and entertainment. We were also close the bar and snacks. Bars In an evening we sere severed by Lucile (OMG she is a amazing) to the point that we would only sit in her area, she is a great sever with an amazing laugh - she really took good care of us, an absolute credit to the resort. Entertainment All great, these guys certainly work hard. we loved watching them every day with the different activities they out on. We also paid the extra for the Saturday night Mexican show it was worth every penny. Rooms We were in villa 37 which are classified as the premium double (ungraded room), it was clean and very spacious. The only thing I wish was better was the AC, this was restricted to 18 degrees where as I like it colder but it certainly didn't spoil the holiday. Grounds They are lovely, I ran every other morning round all the hotels and felt completely safe. It also gave me the chance to look at the other hotels and I feel Tulum is slightly better in appearance to Coba. Overall we had a great holiday and I would certainly recommend this hotel to friends and family, I will also be looking to book another holiday with the Bahia Principe change and I feel we got a great service, lovely food and real value you for money.

Don't hesitate to book here, you wont be disappointed.

This is the perfect holiday destination. Staff are exceptional, warm and friendly. Rooms are large, extremely clean, loads of amenities and lush pillows. Food is great and the A La Carte restaurants are stunning, especially La Gourmet. Pools are great, fantastic fun and games and the beach only 50 yards away is perfect for the chill relaxing times. Cant wait to go back, when it ticks all the boxes, why go anywhere else.

    Improvement needed before serious injury

Personally wouldn’t go back to this resort and the reason are below. As a well travelled person this hotel isn’t 4 stars not even close. Let me explain why. 1st. The cleanliness of the hotel isn’t a 4 star standard. Mexican raccoons crawling everywhere over cups, coffee machines, walls, my moms legs yup you read that right a baby raccoon climbed my moms leg she was so lucky it didn’t bite her. They climb in all the bins looking for left over food or jump on your plate given the chance, this isn’t what you’d expect. When vomit has been left on the floor for 3 hours and staff members just pass it without clearing or anything, it’s just bad. 2nd. It rains a lot, and there is NO non skid mats to be seen, I watched 4 people fall and seriously hurt themself in the space of 30 mins. I personally skidded with my 5 month old in my arms. Thank god I was holding onto his stroller or things could have been very bad. For a large hotel chain like Bahia you’d think they could invest in some non skid mats for the rainy season. The amount of injuries that occur must be mind blowing. 3rd. The food is repetitive day after day not much changes. It’s also lukewarm I think in the whole 2 weeks I had 2 hot meals. Not ideal. The tags didn’t match up to the items on show and putting gluten free tags where gluten free things aren’t is a recipe for disaster as I found out. Some of the meat was questionable. - Brazilian restaurant - worst meal I’ve had in years I have no idea what meats were being served grizzly fatty oily wouldn’t feed to the raccoons let along humans. - Japanese restaurant - we arrived soaked due to the rain and not having an umbrella we repeatedly asked for one but it never arrived. The buggies passed us because we had a stroller I’m assuming. When asked if they had a towel or something to dry off was told NO. So we say and ate a very mediocre meal soaking wet. I’m not sure the chef knows what pad Thai is because it certainly wasn’t what was given. Best part of the meal spring rolls. - Mexican restaurant - not sure why it’s classed as an extra it’s a buffet help yourself so not really worth wasting a restaurant booking for. - Indian restaurant - was very nice the food was hot and prepared well. The servers were polite and happy to help. - Don Pablo - was looking forward to a steak as had been told it was the best restaurant by friends who has previously been. There was no real steak on the menu anymore just beef cheek yawn not exactly luxury. With that being said the meal was nice. Just not as expected - Truck - was also under some renovation and didn’t have everything on the menu ) not really fast food we waited over 30 mins for some chicken wings ) and the ice cream machine wasn’t always working. 4th. Rooms are spacious and cosy, our cleaner Rosalba was amazing. And the mini bar was stocked daily we didn’t want the beer so asked for extra water and that was given daily. However - we had to ask for the room to be fumigated it was covered in bugs on an evening. They were everywhere inside the room outside. I emptied a can of off one evening as we were being bitten alive. A spider the size of my palm was running through. We shouldn’t have to ask for this to be fumigated when I quote the staff know it’s in the jungle. We had an infant with us ( 5 months ) a cot was provided but this is for a toddler not an infant. The room has no bathtub and the terrace was full of bugs and raccoons so we couldn’t sit there at all. The raccoons have also burrowed under the terrace so I’m not sure how safe the room is. We would have preferred a room with a bathtub with an infant. 5th. Pools always clean little mess, splash pool was lovely for my little one. 6th, u don’t expect to be told off by staff members ever on a vacation but I was told off a few times for trying to get water before it was cold ( because I’m a mind reader ) I was told my hands are dirty and I shouldn’t be touching the machine. Then the bar next to splash pool the soft drink machine was out of service so they had bottles and ice. I dropped some ice by accident and was screamed at by the staff member no need to be rude not like I did it on purpose accidents happen! As a nursing mother there is no where for one to nurse in private other than your room or the toilet and I refuse to feed my child in the bathroom so I feel like the entire resort saw my chest. It wouldn’t be hard to have an air conditioned room with a chair in for mothers with babies who need to escape the heat for a moment or even change babies bottoms. Not very many changing areas available. Some bathrooms the changing table had been removed. We ventured to the hacienda one night to be told only one of us could go in unless we bought a ticket. This is just ridiculous it’s an ALL INCLUSIVE resort meaning it should be all inclusive not having to pay for shows or to enter the hacienda. We only wanted to visit the store to grab some snacks for the room as we were hungry. I didn’t want to leave my baby and my mom wasn’t comfortable going in alone. So we walked back to the hotel empty handed. It’s just ridiculous that you have to pay! Jesus in the breakfast area is very kind, tops up the coffee and didn’t mind filling up my babies thermos so I could heat pumped milk up later on. The main restaurant roof was being replaced while we were there so meal times were somewhat hectic on a weekend and very loud not a place for an infant at all. It’s not a family friendly resort on a weekend. I’m also not sure if there was a Covid outbreak in the last few days but we all of a sudden had to use hand sanitizer and some of the staff were wearing masks. Just made for an uncomfortable experience. All in all I’d give this hotel 4 out of 10. So much to improve on.

    Fantastic Holiday!

We had a fantastic holiday staying here and met lots of amazing friends! When we arrived our A/C didn’t work in the room, we called reception and they moved us rooms straight away then followed up with a call to the room most days to check everything was ok and working as it should which was good of them. The buffet had variety most of the time, we stayed for 2 weeks so we did book the a la carte restaurants just so we could have a proper meal. Didn’t have aircon in the main part but they did seat us in the Indian a lot which does have it as there was work being done on the roof but it wasn’t too hot or unbearable in the main buffet. Would recommend the Tepanyaki, Indian & Brazilian. We booked all these through the app before we arrived and whilst we were there, had no trouble getting in to any. We also tried the Tequila Mexican restaurant, this one is buffet style but we weren’t too keen on this one. If you want to try Mexican food then it would be great for you but we didn’t go again. However, the staff and the drinks they make there were great. The entertainment team… INCREDIBLE. A special mention to Erick & Edgar, the effort they put in to the entertainment and chatting with you is so lovely, they are brilliant people. Also to mention Christian, Alejandro, Marco & Victor. We would return just for the entertainment team, they were the best thing about this hotel!! The crazy games, foam party and entertainment they put on throughout the day/evening was great. If you don’t like this kind of thing the quiet pool was also lovely for a bit of downtime away from music and games. The swim up bar in the pool was great, have to mention Librado who serves throughout the day, he was fab! The mixology night the hotel put on at Hacienda with fireworks, cocktails, fire show & DJ was amazing! To say it was included/free was just fab for the effort that was put into that night. The karaoke & silent disco was fun too. We booked excursions through the hotel, we did the buggy’s with jungle & cenotes - half day tour that was really fun. We also did Isla Mujeres (beautiful place) & snorkelling (a little miss sold with this as it was advertised as with turtles and seeing certain statues etc underwater but didn’t see these) the boat journey was brilliant, free drinks included and they definitely make sure you get your moneys worth!! We did get a collectivo into Playa Del Carmen 55 pesos each each way. You can get these by waiting by the bus stops outside the front of the hotel by the main road. Super easy to get and a lot cheaper than travelling by taxi which was around $100. You can also get one to Tulum if you wait on the opposite side. If you want snacks, souvenirs etc, go to Hacienda. We paid £11 for one share bag of crisps at the hotel shop, sooo much cheaper at the shop at Hacienda. Also recommend taking your own cup (the thermal ones) if you want drinks to stay cold or you can buy them there for around £18 ish. Lastly, be careful of raccoons, birds & caotis. They will steal your food if left unattended. Put your food/plates in the bin/back at the food bar when done or you will get a swarm of seagulls at your sunbed. The truck is worst for raccoons stealing food I turned for not even a minute and it pulled my food off the table so just be careful! We will 100% be returning here! Adam & Alarnia :)

    Family holiday

This was the second time we stayed in the hotel complex, first time was at the Coba and this time we stayed at the Tulum. Accommodation we could fault this to be fair, rooms were a great size, clean and bright. The room was cleaned daily and towels replaced when requested. The buffet was what I expected, something for everyone, my only gripe was that they could be a touch slow in replacing things of high demand quickly. The pools, depending what you like there was a pool for everyone. We chose the quieter pool at the far end of the resort is really nice, it’s right on the beach so you can have easy access to both. Small children’s area to so really great for the family if you want a quieter area. Our only real gripe with the hotel was the booking of restaurants. We had waited initial we arrived to choose what suited the whole family. We discovered we couldn’t get a table for 7 and a small child easily. This was disappointing as a lot of the restaurants were fully booked already, I recommend strongly booking before you travel on the app to ensure you get what you want. We also found the resort to be very expensive, for example I needed a bite cream as we ran out, on the resort this was about 400 Mexican Pesos, in a pharmacy it was 125 pesos and in the supermarket in Tulum town 24 pesos. So much cheaper. We went everywhere by the local bus, so easy and again cheap!
