Tuxtla Gutierrez

The city of Chiapas, Mexico, is a relatively new town compared to the other historic cities along this area of the Pacific Coast. Its location makes it good for day trips to these surrounding sights. The colonial town of Chiapa de Corzo, named after an ancient Olmec site nearby, features a large plaza with the unusual octagon shaped La Pila Fountain at its center. Chiapas is also close to the national park surrounding the gorgeous Sumidero Canyon.
