Mexico’s second biggest city, Guadalajara is the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila. Green spaces and public art characterize the city’s many public spaces, while at its heart is the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady, its twin pointed towers and central dome dominating the skyline. The cathedral and the baroque facade of the adjacent Government Palace are just two of the sites to be seen along with the many bubbling fountains, charming colonial buildings and modern sculptures lining Guadalajara’s many picturesque promenades.
